Fish and worm deliveries all made ... outdoors, socially-distanced, with masks worn. And it was a beautiful day for it.

One guy that I delivered fish to had driven down from near Buffalo, NY. He mentioned that there was another guy that had driven up from St. Louis, MO (the rest of the story on that is that guy has a fish auction to go tomorrow in Indianapolis ... so two birds, one stone)

I ended up running by a fish store up in the area (after calling first) to see how the owner was doing in these times ... and to show a little love by spending a little $$$ on a little fish food.

Turns out he's doing pretty well, despite having shutdown the store to inside customer traffic. His business on the internet has picked up to offset the in-store trade ... and he doesn't have to deal with the unpredictability of foot traffic or unknown individuals and lookeeloo's coming into the store.

Also slid by a new place that has opened up a few weeks ago closer to the house. Nice place - good stock, clean and well-tended. Hope they succeed ...

Now I have to go un-bag some new fish ...

Well, that's probably good - since it would appear to be an inherently political topic - at least from the perspective it appears to be coming from.

My reply to Ron was not intended to be political, nor do I think it was.

I simply commented on the aspect that it's kind of hard to blame curfews, quarantines, stay-at-home orders, shelter-in-place orders, shutdowns (aka "lockdowns") and similar restrictions - if you have large numbers of people who are unwilling to follow them and comply ... along with ignoring other public health rules and regulations all at the same time.

I additionally commented that when "locked-down-ness" is reduced, cases rise, pointing to my own state as an example.

It just isn't the case that the lockdowns simply don't work - it's that some people could be said to be deliberately sabotaging them ... by being unwilling to comply, if not for their own welfare, then at least for the good of others. And I suspect that their motivations for doing so vary.

If you want an example of how well lockdowns do work, check out New Zealand - it's a textbook example of how "lockdowns" - in conjunction with other measures - can get control of a highly transmissible airborne virus and prevent it from running rampant through a populace.

My sons college has resumed in person classes since January, they have 2 active cases. My son is still remote.

Never got to the cleaning I was going to do, got involved with no water issue and had to troubleshoot. Ended up putting new wires from a pole to the pump house. Had multiple previous splices that were in bad shape.

Not familiar with the Forbes study ... but Forbes isn't who I'd look to for best practices on a public health medical emergency like a pandemic of a potentially life-threatening viral disease.

On economics, they do carry some weight though.

That's the difference between inference and implication:

The (purported) political "implications" are in the eye of the beholder I guess.

What was implied in my post - and what I was focused on - was that lockdowns do work - and I pointed to data here in my own state that shows cases rising when "locked-down-ness" was relaxed.

That this could happen isn't really all that surprising - given that one can be asymptomatic and still be a carrier of the virus. Couple that with pre symptomatic spread and it's potentially a pretty big pool.

All other factors aside, more/increased activity in the public sphere can reasonably be expected to cause an increase in cases - simply because there are just more opportunities for spread.

Nothing here in Ohio has changed as far as the mask mandate and social-distancing as far as I know.

I really wasn't focused on the political implications per se ... just the actual facts of whether lockdowns do work or not.

I don't like lock downs, give me masks and distancing and with those, the ability to still go/do what I need.

Got the Mule 3010 running after all. Reading the service manual, the fuel pump wiring goes through the flywheel ignitor pickup, to see if the motor is actually running. If the motor stops, the fuel pump stops. So I finally got the battery charged up enough to turn it over fast enough to start, and whalaa, the fuel pump was working. Saved some cha-ching. Now that it's running, I'm ordering tune up stuff to finish it.

Those little memory sticks sure are durable in comparison.
But there is a purity about turntables and reel to reel tape decks that will never lose appeal for me.
The Ampex deck would need to go in the trunk. Along with a lot of heavy gauge wiring...

Those Klipsch horns wouldn't fit in RNG's vanagon. LOL. McIntosh sold a LOT of amps, tube and solid state, and they still command good prices.

I would certainly agree. I have had several of them over the last 50 years, I don’t think that I ever sold one for less than I paid for it. In some instances a lot more than I paid.

Good evening all. 54F for the start, cloudy, light breeze. Fog for a while then overcast all day, moderate wind, and high temp was 78F. Chance of showers tonight but look like they will stay north and south of me. Bike ride first thing, then nap and dinner.
