Thomas sounds as if Spring is coming and all that it brings

Looks like it is going to be a really nice day here today. Yesterday was almost hot. I kept shedding layers. I was almost ready for shorts and a t shirt.

I wonder how many young people today are willing to work a 60 hour week?

I think there are young people working in tech who would feel like they were having a lite week if they only worked 60 hr. Of course a lot of them are from India or Ukraine but there are bound to be a few Americans.

Billy, my Dad took us boys into NYC as kids to see Mickey Mantle and Yogi Berra several times.
We were definitely Yankee fans. I think of baseball and I think of my Father asleep on the couch on a Saturday afternoon
with the television still on and the game playing. It was the only time he got to take a nap, otherwise he worked a 60 hour week.

I wonder how many young people today are willing to work a 60 hour week. Then you have the flip side of the coin in Japan where those folks
sure take their jobs too seriously and have all kinds of alcohol problems because of it.
Am pretty sure my grandfather worked six days a week for most of his life. It was just the way of things, particularly if you owned your own business
and knew what it was like for the world to fall apart in 1929.

My parents were that way, my dad died at 41, I think the war experience and working 50-60 hours a week in the Ford plant were contributing factors He’s still the best baseball player I’ve ever seen. My late brother and middle grandson inherited it and my daughter was a super first baseman.
We use to watch the Yankees on TV every Saturday because CBS owned a stake in the team, so they were the game. Dad was not a Yankees fan, but I was. Mantle, Maris, Kubeck, Richardson, Howard, Skowren, Berra and Boyer and Whitey Ford on the mound.

42F with a bit of haze, headed up to a high of 70F for the day.

All (27 ?) designated fish caught, bagged (11), tagged, oxygenated and ready to go to new homes ... along with six containers of white worms, at the appointed hour ... (y)

Just need to clean out an additional container - probably an ice chest - because they won't all fit in the one styro I have ...

With all the wind we had yesterday a number trees came down, mostly over in the woods ... but there was one smaller ash that fell halfway across the driveway. Will need to take the Kubota and push that back in the woods later.

Might hit the driveway with the box blade while I'm at it.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ... (y)

Good morning! 42 now, 70 later. Going to be an outside kind of day.

The brush along the roads and edge of woods are turning green. We have the peepers back at night. We both enjoy that sound. Being surrounded by woods, there are a lot of them! Spring is arriving.

We had high winds yesterday morning. Power went out just as I was getting into the shower. Managed to get a quick shower with pressure in the tank. Power was back on when I got home, but the internet is wonky. It cycles on/off. Hate dealing with those people. Have to explain to Steve in Mumbai that there is nothing wrong with the modem, it is there system.

Still no parts for the saw. Was hoping to get it running this weekend.

Everyone stay safe out there

Between 30+ mph winds thunder lighting with heavy rains snow all but disappear except for the snow banks. :)
That was a heck of a rain storm...didn't see any lightning or hear any thunder, but visibility driving home (91 and 89) was virtually nil...

Poured first cup of coffee. 36° with mostly cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 59° with cloudy skies and rain later in day. Grocery shopping went very well. Very few people out shopping. Must have been the weather. Helped son install a new Reese hitch on his truck and trailer. Off to Port Huron to visit my aunt and uncle today.

Michigan covid cases 718,455. Deaths 17,023. Oakland county cases 84,210. Deaths 2,052. Michigan is reporting over 5,000 new cases everyday. So much for lock down cutting back on cases. Last week numbers were in 1K's.

Lockdowns don't cut back on cases when people ignore them ... or violate other rules and public health recommendations.

FWIW:

Ohio covid cases 1,008,913. (Ohio's population is 11,714,600 vs. Michigan's 9,992,430) Deaths are at 18,526. And Ohio reported 2,742 cases yesterday ... that's up from the 21 Day average of 1,556 (we had it as low as 735 new cases per day within the last three weeks) ... and the spike in cases corresponds to the relaxed business opening/operation rules which were implemented here in our state in the last month of so ... ;)

And sadly, the spike in deaths will probably trail the spike in cases by about 3 to 4 weeks.

Nice sandhill pic BTW ... (y)

42° and sunny on the farm. Woke to turkey goobling, a Tom was spread out putting on a show for the gals. Tried to sneak out to get a pic, they were already hightailing it when I peaked around the building.

Very windy coming over the mountains yesterday. Semi’s being tossed around, only saw one wrecked.

Good Morning
47 and climbing to 65 today. Yesterday’s strong winds have subsided, looks like a nice day, with rain tonight. Highest gust that I recorded was 37mph, with the Tempest and Davis in agreement.

Pork came out quite good. It went in the smoker around 6pm and came out just before noon.

I had the QC manager watching me shred it....

And ended up with a good amount when I was done. I gave about 2/3 of it away, but I’ve got enough in the fridge to last quite a while.

Made good progress in the shop, there’s 3 speakers in process now, so I’m figuring out how to most efficiently work on them. I’m a long way from Henry Ford, but it does save time.

Today I’ve got to go to Hilton Head again, hopefully I can get a little done in the shop when I get back.

It’s nice not to start each day with a search for a vaccination appointment!

I think the supervisor approved. It sure looks good. I considered getting a smoker a couple yrs ago, now I have the urge again.

toppop52 said, "Ron, new cars try squeeze as much power as possible in the smallest engine, that requires high cylinder pressure from boost, compression ratio or both. In order to that you gotta have knock resistance or you have an expensive hand grenade.
My STS required premium or you got a noticeable drop in performance. My son’s CTSv is the same way."

I'd generally agree, but I have a 2017 Ford with a little 1.5L turbo engine that recently turned over 40k miles. I never baby it, it accelerates as fast as I need to when I romp down on the gas pedal, it's never needed any oil between changes, not a drop of a leak on my garage floor, and it's never had any kind of engine problem or repair. And an overall average of more than 25 mpg. I'd have to say it's actually the best car I've ever owned. Now i hope I didn't jinx myself when I said that.:D
