I have access to a JD850 4WD without a loader. Does any one have any experience running a 6 foot rear mount PTO snow blower on that tractor? I am in upstate NY and average 60-88 inches of snow per year.

Thanks in advance

Since the JD850 is basically a Yanmar YM2500, look on YT for vids showing it in action.

Here's a JD750 with the same Yanmar engine as the JD850.

Two things would come to mind for consideration.
1st, Without the FEL for weight, would need to add weight there to balance the 6' rear blower.
2nd, if can keep rpm up and go slow enough in low reverse to power through any major snow depths.

Hydrostatic tranny would be a better option, so something to consider on the JD 850 being a gear only tractor.

1, Yes, the JD850 can mount up to 240-lbs on the first rack up front, More can be added on a 2nd rung.
The John Deere / Yanmar rear snowblowers by Ber-Vac were not at all that heavy. They come in 48 & 60 inch widths.

2, Should the snowblower be a 2-stage, no need to worry about going really too slow. Just a slow enough would be all that matters.

Another thought too. Tires and chains make a major difference regardless of gear vs. hydrostatic drive. Both have pros-cons on snow and ice. I've gotten stuck in a driveway with a hydrostatic on snow that was polished over to near ice conditions. wheels spun and spun. With gear, the PTO spins down and up. With PowerShift or PowerShuttle, less chances of getting stuck.

OPS had a 4WD JD850, so he shouldn't get stuck. :)
