Electric chainsaw

Has anybody used an electric chain saw and are they any good?
My wife is looking for a saw to cut up wood for the fire and has been looking at DEWALT DCCS620P1, Would have thought a chainsaw would have been better but not sure what like an electric one would be.

Wife wore out 2 Kobalt 40v ones with brushes. Wore brushes out on the 1st one and broke a cog inside the 2nd one.

Now she uses a Stihl 12" 36v one. Good saw but it tends to use too much oil, and the chain is one of the small tooth ones that produces finer sawdust that gums up with the oil.

50 minutes/battery with constant cutting. Chain oil refill with each battery. Wife carries spare battery and chain oil in a back pack. I don't use any more because my footing isn't good with neuropathy.

Yes and Yes...

My Stihl 200 battery saw is very good... with two 300 batteries and the quick charge I can go as long as I want.

I also have a corded Stihl chainsaw... its a beast.

I got one of these after a sawmill channel on YT mentioned it. Impressive run time for cheap chinesium. Achiforce He had a discount code so I got it for $157.** I got it mainly for camping but have found it handy when goofing around at my property and need to cut some stuff but don't want to deal with the gassers. I think his channel is Fall Line Ridge.

I've got the Milwaukee. Will it replace a gasser? Nope. Does it get taken out a lot more than my gasser to do chores? Yep.

If I was just cutting up limbs and stuff around a yard electric would be fine. You say to burn, I don't think they're up for serious firewood processing.

I just bought a Makita DUC400Z (Oregon bar & chain, 400mm)... the main reason was that it's a 'skin' that uses the Makita batteries that I already had for my hammer-drill as this reduces the number of batteries/chargers that I have. Honestly, batteries are the most expensive 'parts' of cordless tools so choosing and sticking to to one brand's battery system is the best way to go. I was pleasantly surprised that Makita (like Milwaukee and some others) had branched out from 'power tools' to include chainsaws & other types of tools utilising their batteries.

I have 2 battery powered chain saws and I use them most of the time cutting firewood. Ryobi 40 volt is good for trees and limbs up to about 10 inches and the Redback 120 volt battery will do a 16 or 18 inch tree with no problem. I burn around 6 cords of wood a year and about 80% of that is cut with battery chain saws.

We carry a 40 Volt chain saw .. and a spare battery .. on our VFD Grass / Brush Truck

I have two Makita saws and both are 36V. Use them for tree trimming only and preparing trees for the chipper. I love them, and they are light and durable. Get about 1 hour use from each battery pack. My Ryobi 40V is slightly underpowered. I also use Stihl gas chainsaws for firewood cutting.

I just looked up the redback and there's an 18" saw + 2Ah battery + charger for $160... quite a price! Out of stock.

I've had the DEWALT DCCS620P1 one for 4 years now and it痴 actually been fantastic. I致e used it all over my ranch and it痴 never skipped a beat.
