Actually the original polio vaccine required three shots.
One concern of limiting the public to one vaccine dose is that the immunity is not as complete and does not last as long...which leads to variants of the virus.
It makes me recall the instructions when an antibiotic is prescribed...to finish the entire prescription, even if you feel well, since the illness can return, even stronger, if not completely killed.

Yep, I got mine in a sugar cube, and that was a single dose, but I’d already had shots in the late 50’s-early 60’s. The new one was in place of what would have been another booster shot. That particular oral version was fairly new and considered better than earlier vaccine. They now have several newer versions.
Interesting that these new deadly viruses seem to start from animals in other countries and jump to humans.
