I've had the sugar cube AND the vaccination to prevent polio. Unfortunately, I had polio before the doctors knew what it was; late 1941 when I was 22 months old. But since doctors said you could have polio more than once, I got the sugar cube and vaccination when everyone else did.

Kyle,

Glad to hear things are warming up down that way and that you were able to get that ‘’script.

Best wishes for you, the wife, and the rest of the family for a quick recovery.

Now I'm wondering when we get our first big upset over someone fully vaccinated
trying to get into the bank or wherever not wearing a mask. At some point, they have to lower the mask requirements.

Not so sure about that, Drew. From what I've read, you can still be a carrier/spreader of CV19 even though you've been vaccinated. But you won't get sick. So we'll have more asymptomatic folks wondering around ready to infect anyone that hasn't been vaccinated. That solves the hospital overflow problem, but it doesn't do much to slow down the spread of the disease.

Just got my new refurbished Dell in. I have an old Vista Dell, that I put an SSD hard drive in it, that I'm going to replace. I wish there was an easy way to suck the data off the old SSD, put the SSD in the newly arrived computer, then transfer the Win10 OS onto the SSD as a boot drive, and use the drive that came with it for a data drive. Just like Ron's new machine he just ordered.

Glad the family is doing OK with the disease so far, Kyle.

There is/was a program called Ghost that will do a bit wise copy of one disc to another. I've use the Mac equivalent many times to move data from an old computer to a new one. Works like a charm as long as there aren't any significant changes to the OS. That's been the case for the last two new computer purchases, and I ended up using Apple's Migration Assistant application instead. Worked like a champ, but because the traffic went over the wireless network, it took a loooooooooooooooooooooog time. Maybe there's a winderz equivalent to MA?

I've also had good luck pulling the old drive out of the computer and sticking it into a USB box, then transferring the data over USB. That way I can keep using the old drive as either a spare or to back up the new one. If your old drive is bigger than the one in the new computer, maybe you could swap the new one into the USB box, and still put the old one in the new computer. But there have been some upgrades in the drive interfaces, too, to those would have to be compatible as well.

Ah, the joys of data migration...:grumpy:

Was the pistol thing the smallpox vaccination? My wife remember the pistol thingy also and still has the scar.

Yes, that's what my wife told me...the gun actually shot the vaccine into the skin without a needle.

Maybe the hassle isn't worth it. IIRC it's only a 128gb ssd, which aren't too much now. I just know how much quicker an SSD drive boots up a computer. Thanks! I'll scratch my head and see which is easiest vs costliest....

Just took a walkabout out to the pond to take some ice photos to remember. The pond is full, and flowing over in a nice small footwide, rippling flow out the downside.

My smallpox vaccine was administered with multiple pricks of a single small needle dipped in a solution. My scar wasn’t perfectly round like the gun made.

I got confirmation of my second shot today, the 27th.
