Time sure flies Drew. I remember those days.
This is as close as I get to social media.

Sometimes I think I should put instructions with my Trust documents to log on when the day comes I can’t.

Learning to sew was just another thing my Mother felt I should know growing up, but to be honest I haven’t darned a sock or sewed a button in many years. Yup, we got one of those small chest boxes with spools of many colors and varied assortment of fasteners and needles. Have 2 tabletop machines. A friend gave us the 2nd but no idea why we kept it.

In 1977 when we had 57 days below freezing the Chesapeake Bay froze completely over north of the Potomac, the news had footage of guys from the ice locked ships playing football on the Bay. Our rivers froze and no barges could get in? They instituted a 5000 shaft horse power rule to come north of the Potomac, in two days they couldn’t make either. We had convoys of oil trucks coming from Norfolk and NJ, the Salisbury city water mains froze in some areas and had to be thawed with welders. You couldn’t hire a welder or plumber for two months. It started Jan 1, after a 60° day, a cold front came through 50 mph winds about 22 pm, by morning it was 0 and dropped to -5 by about 8. I had a Buick Regal with a 455 and it was frozen to the asphalt with water blown in waves up to the middle of the Cragars.

1977 was the year the Ohio river froze over where people could walk across it. I have picture of icebreaker trying to keep it open. Also when we did a lot of Ice skating on our farm pond.
The week of Jan 16 1977 we were in the -20 range in Ohio. We had to chop ice off the springs for cows to drink.
We had pretty good blizzard in both 77 and 78. In 78 it was -50 wind chill and our bowling alley collapsed under the snow.

Maybe be experiencing a mild vaccination reaction. Very mild headache and nausea. Normally I wouldn’t think being shot related being 3 days, but the V Safe site tracks for 7, so possible.

Thanks, Ron. Barrie is indeed a nice place - and about an hour closer to the cottage than Toronto. Have been looking at a nice retirement place (Waterford Barrie Retirement Residence) that is close to my SIL/BIL (maybe 5 mins. away), and looks real nice. (They sent us videos of the available suites.) I am mindful of one of my favourite lines from The Sound of Music - "When the Lord closes a door, somewhere He opens a window."

And here is another thing to thing to think about. The same day that my MIL died, a new baby was born to my Nephew and his wife. Anyone believe in reincarnation?

My daughter was born almost the same time that my aunt died, reincarnation I’m not sure what I think about it. Genetic memory, maybe.

Ron, I gave my wife a decent new sewing machine she loved and a serger she never used. Always wanted to learn
that skill, like Toppop has. We build and fix things in many different materials, sawing, welding, stitching...
I've paid for new canvas on three boats and that sure gave me an appreciation for someone's neat stitches.
Like a nice welding bead...

So I wonder Ron if you will have a use for the machinery or will that go to grandchildren?
I gave mine away, made two ladies very, very happy.
Including a home made walnut bobbin/thread holder I made.
We might want a new Dewalt or Makita but the missus
wants a new electronic sewing machine with 16 different stitches.

I bought my wife a new sewing machine about 18 years ago. It is still in the box. :(
I bought her a new waffle maker 2 years ago as she said she would like one. It is still in the box. :(

Good morning to all! I AM BACK! This morning the low was -4f, 12" of snow at 6am.... still snowing.... we will probably get 18" by the time it's done. Now they are saying more snow by Tuesday night. Low tonight is expected to be be -10.

I made it home yesterday at around 5 pm. The snow started at 5:15.... made it just in time. They were going to keep me another night due to blood loss, 1000cc during the surgery, then they had to put in a drain in the incision which collected another 1400cc. Needless to say, my B/P was hypotensive in the mid 90's for the first 8 hours, then started coming back up.

I have to say, the hospital is no place to rest.... I was able to get maybe 2 hours of just dosing before they moved in a roomate .... every 30-45 minutes there was something going on with them that created a disturbance.... it was 20 hours after I got out of surgery before I was able to sleep for 2 hours. Then of course they woke me up to get vitals and give meds. When the surgeon came back to check on me 24 hours later, he agreed with me that I would get more rest at home....

Last night was better, but every 2 hours had to get up and go to the bathroom.... I guess all the IV fluids (4000cc) they gave me to get the B/P up were finally working through.... this morning mostly back to normal. Big incision, 14" long, 34 staples holding it together. As long as it stays that way, all will be good. Only thing I am not happy with is the daily injections of Lovenox (blood thinner) that I have to give myself. The bruising is starting already. I have to do them for 20 days....

Pain is tolerable, they gave me plenty of narcotics, I have cut back on them already.... don't like that fuzzy feeling... warm is ok... I keep moving about using my walker.... I never thought I would have to have one of these so early in age....

Well gonna go make my laps back an forth in the house, then hit the recliner for a bit... I wanted to bo broom the deck and the walkway, but wifey won't let me .... she actually won't let me out of her sight! .... guess I won't be able to do any fun things....

Everyone have a great day!

Took 2 or 3 days for reaction to show up after Mary and I got the 1st Moderna shot. Same symptoms, they lasted a few days. Seems to be common from what I read and people I've talked to. Supposedly the second shot can be a bit worse, we shall see in a couple of weeks. :D

Glad you are OK mate. You sound quite chirper. Hospitals are horrible places. No sleep, beds that fall to bits, Horrible meals that I refuse to even try to eat. Last time I walked (sort of) out. A nurse panicked and followed/helped me as I could barely move but I wasn't staying there. I rang my wife to come get me.

I’ve used TurboTax since back when it was MacInTax. Before that had a floppy drive program that ran on the Apple //c. Simpler days, I actually created spreadsheets that would figure and print dot matrix returns for NJ and GA.

A bit surprised that Arkansas allowed different filing status than Federal. Curious, have you queried Intuit/TurboTax?

As I recall 2nd Shingrix was more reaction too.
That’s OK, just glad to get the vaccine.

Hope that healing goes well for you, LS.

I liked the Anthem performance prior to Daytona much more than last week’s .

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Welcome home Ted.

When I had my knees done I managed the after surgery pain by a combination Ibuprofen & Vicodin. I was able to cut Vicodin dosage way down and get off sooner. Dr explained to me that reason was there was 2 types of pain with the surgery. As I recall the ibuprofen dealt with the inflammatory pain better, therefor helping.

Best thoughts and prayers for your recovery.

I would have no issues if it weren't for that quirk with the state taxes. It's pay someone $200 to do our taxes, or lose money that we should be getting back.

My son had issues filing in AR last year. Seems they were rather antiquated in their methods as I recall.

Yes they are. And they are also hard handed to someone the first time they file in Arkansas.

I received a letter from the state of Arkansas demanding my tax returns for the year prior to me moving to the state.

They were demanding that I show proof of paying state taxes in another state for that year. I moved to Arkansas in January. So there wasn't a partial year of state taxes paid from the previous year. They state I was residing in didn't have a state tax. Therfore I didn't pay any state taxes for that year in question.

It took me about three seperate calls to them before I got it straightened it. I explained that the state I lived in didn't have a state tax. I explained that I moved to the state in January. Therefore I didn't pay state taxes the previous year and wasn't required to per the state I lived in.

They kept arguing with me that I needed to show where I earned the money the previous year. I pointed out that it was in the other state, as well as the address listed on the W2 was where I was residing in. And the fact that the tax preparation and every form over paperwork was listed for the state I was residing in.

They said the W2 form should have which state the money was earned in. I pointed out that it won't list the state that the money was earned in, if the state listed in the address was the state the money was earned in. I challenged the person on the phone to reference their w2 form and see if the state was listed where they earned their money from.

I finally got pi$$ed and demanded to speak to the persons supervisor. I explained the issue, they looked at the W2 form, and said "I don't see where there is an issue here!!! Your good to go!!!!".

If you don't fight it though they will demand that you pay Arkansas state taxes for the previous year before you moved to the state.

Welcome back LS. Glad it was successful and you are done with the walker soon. I still got a very nice and expensive wheelchair, walker and cane. Don’t use any of them now.

Last time I flew my drone it complained about warped props. So flew it today, got same message. Replaced a set at a time, it was happy when all were replaced.
