Anyone out plowin?

/ Anyone out plowin? #41
I plowed a bunch of times already this winter. A few times 2-3" or so, one 8" this last weekend, and then plowing again around 3" this morning. This morning sucked coz it's pretty cold, 10 deg actually, but was in the negatives with the wind chill.

We are here. Still snowing out and the forecast looks white.

Windchills in the -40's, frostbite in under two minutes. Had some ground drifting, not enough to warrant starting the tractor to do a little clearing. Even with a cab, don't need to be out there, it can wait till it settles down a bit. I'll bet that a lot of the "don't need a cab" crowd haven't experienced these conditions.

We came close last year around here, had -20s a few times. Hadn't been that cold since 1980's. It's gonna be single digits all week here now, it's gonna suck. :(

Been there... done that. Worked in -60f wind chills back in the late 80s. In montana... never want to see that again. Here in n idaho its cold, but rarely below 0

And the rain and warm weather continues. At this rate - no snow plowing again this winter - same as last winter. That big expensive rear blade probably thinks its just a decoration on the back of the tractor.

Just the opposite here.
Colder than last couple years. Already had 2 major snow events here (we used to just call it snow). Getting another 7 inches of snow tonight. Should be record profits in bagged salt, batteries, snow shovels and mad bomber hats.
Supposed to drop to 10* later next week.
Maybe in the PNW you are getting all the warmth from the China factories? :D

Well, I got to do my 1st snowblowing in daylight, how about that. Was a little too snowy to get the drone out....but one of these days. Just the old GoPro Hero 3+ Black edition in the cab with me.

Winter finally arrived here:20210204_092857.jpg20210204_093008.jpg20210204_092933.jpg

We have less than 3 settled feet but it's the wind drifting that I has me plowing 3 times a day to get out.

How long is that driveway/road your doing?

Finally got to a decent snowfall with my MK Martin SB75PT the other night. It was 8 degrees out with 8 inches of snow, cab was nice and warm. I was impressed how far it would blow the snow and how fast I could actually drive. The first 2 inches was wet and and the top six was light fluffy snow. Took 45 minutes to do everything, by comparison from last year using my UTV would have been 3 1/2 hours and I would have been cold.

We are getting hit in the mid Atlantic as I type.
Only 3-6”
I will be out plowing again in a few hours when it stops.
Sometimes winters can make you some nice spare change $$ :)

About the only reason I wish I lived in suburbia. Most of my family and friends live in these cookie cutter neighborhoods. I’m still keeping an eye open for a 5’ blower for the back. I could probably pay for the thing in one large snow storm in their neighborhoods. Meanwhile I love where everyone owns 4+ acres and 50% of my street owns a tractor :)

I feel for all you folks missing your father. I’m going to go the other way. My father left me and my two younger siblings when I was 13 forcing me to become an adult at an early age. Now at 42 with close to a 2-year old, I’m intent on doing better.

Tim, the driveway is about 1800 feet give or take, 6 houses with parking areas on 30 acres on our homestead.

Snowing here now too.
Just started.
3" - 6" ?....I'll do as my dad always said.
"let the guy who brought it, take it away",.... I'm only 500' from relatively warm salt water.
More than 6", I'll think about getting the Ford 1920 out, ....maybe tomorrow.

The Kubota L48 TLB does not venture out in the Winter time!
It must be kept dry and clean.

Not enough to bother with yet, maybe in the morning.
Weather guessers calling for 1-3 so who knows. 😆
