I am afraid with the Kioti it will go into reduced power mode if the computer does not see the proper parameters. Another member here, MinnesotaEric believes he has found a way to fool the computer but I don't think he has installed it yet.

Here is his thread.

Sorry for your troubles but this is the very reason I choose Branson over the rest when I was in the market last year.

My tractor may just go on the market after it returns home. I will be looking for a non Tier IV tractor. I have pretty much had it this time. A blown friggin turbo at 680 hours is bullcrap. That oil in the intake was there 200 hours ago. The dealer told me that was normal. I don't really think it is normal. I am going to do some research to find out about turbos leaking oil.

I hear ya. Turbos do go out but I agree this is premature. My theory is seals are not what they use to be. I have had more seal failure in the last 10 years than I have seen over my entire life. It is almost impossible to get a good quality seal anymore.

Kioti does make a good tractor and any brand are susceptible to failure but I am old school and like mechanical direct injection far more than ECU controlled common rail. I chose displacement over turbo because I am at low altitude and it is one less thing to give trouble.

As far as what the dealer told you about the oil being normal, unfortunately you may hear similar bad information from a dealer from any brand. The true mechanics are almost all but gone. Very few still understand troubleshooting and actual testing of components before replacement. The industry is becoming a group of parts changers and manufacturers are designing equipment to match. There may be one small component go bad but to fix it a whole unit or assembly is required.

Again sorry for your troubles and do not want to suggest you will continue to have problems after you get the Kioti home. Likely you will not ever have another issue but it certainly is not out of the question.

Thanks Coobie, I did some research last night on blown turbos and blown turbo seals. What I found was that a totally plugged DPF causes extreme backpressure and overheating of a turbo which in turn can destroy the inards of a turbo. If you tear down the turbo you can tell if it overheated as the parts will be discolored. Basically the turbo self destructs. My guess is that the leaking oil in the turbo was caused by the many prior DPF failures around the 430 - 450 hour mark when I had the bad fuel injector and the DPF wouldn't do a complete regeneration cycle. I'm thinking more like a pre-teir IV tractor with low hours.

Sorry to hear all of your troubles. One reason I purchased my 2012 kioti before more emission BS.Hope you get it resolved.

Kioti rep. was there today looking at my tractor. Test to be performed in the near future on fuel and oil samples. I just filled up the fuel and the oil and filter has 86 hours on it. Thank You Kioti for jumping right on my tractor and thanks to the dealer for his promptness in my dire times.

Ya, I feel for you, what with all the issues that you've had. I use AMSOIL in my Kioti, and feel that it is one of the best oils available. Shipped right to my door, and sometimes free shipping with promos. My tractor is a tier111 and no turbo so it is probably easier on the oil than your tractor. Check out the Signature Series in the link and read the Turbo concerns that it addresses etc. Probably a good idea to use a fuel additive to promote cleaner burning too. Keep us informed how the dealer treats you. Dutchy

So far the dealer has been really good. I did not bring my tractor to the same dealer that I dealt with before. I sent them a text over the weekend and they never got back to me. Plus they don't open until Wednesday so I took my tractor to another place that is open 6 days a week. I believe that I made the right decision just based on how fast they jumped on my problem and that the Kioti rep was there 2 days later. Time will tell what happens.

Following your posts Jim hopefully with a good outcome.

Mine had the turbo replaced because of a leaking seal and repeatedly ending up in limp mode. It went into limp mode 10 hours after the new turbo was installed. It's back at the dealer. Class action lawsuit anyone? There's obviously a defect.
