We thought about the long distance voices also.
Neighbors have an alarm system. My take is they watch the news 16 hrs/day. Add stay at home covid. To me they're getting paranoid. I triggered their driveway sensor when I went to get the cake. It was 7pm. I rang doorbell and they peeked out windows!
Finally opened door after I said who I was.
I would never pull a gun trigger on anyone, even coming in my house if I could detain them until police arrived. Just like the drunk prankster, I'm sure the shooter wishes they hadn't shot him. Someone with a weapon...that's different.
Same with someone beating on my door, I would want to see what it's about. It could be most anything...someone seeking safety, in trouble, injured...anything.

I beat the snot out of my neighbors door one night.

Got to smelling smoke when I was out back with the dog. Peaked over the fence separating the yards and realized their butt bucket was on fire on their porch.

Anyone with a CC permit would understand that the woman in question was wrong.

Yet if you are an LEO it's perfectly excusable.

Its not ALWAYS excused......
And there is always an investigation, whether they are always legit...... I wont try to ponder

There was a case downstate a few years ago when an LEO fired on a car after it eluded a roadblock; killing the driver and a passenger. The passenger was a young woman who had just left her house to go for a walk; they don't know if she got into the car willingly, or if she was kidnapped, and her family will never know what happened that day.

There has never been an officer involved shooting in Maine which wasn't deemed justified; even the time that they went to a woman's house way out in the woods "Because they feared she was suicidal", and she ended up getting shot and killed. There was nobody in danger except maybe herself...

Someone said (removed) pretended to be southern. I've been southern for nearly 70 years and to me, he writes more like someone pretending to be an imigrant, kind of like Chico Marx. Maybe his character is that of an imigrant to the south.

It's supposed to be Cajun, except that he's from NY.

Some of the biggest rednecks I ever met are from Newark Valley, NY... Great bunch of guys!

As I've said before, I suspect that (removed) is a bit smarter than he lets on. Generally I expect to see Cajuns a bit closer to New Orleans, although after their ancestors were run out of Canada they couldn't really pick and choose where they landed.

I blocked them, have more important things than trying to understand a 4'en language

I believe you're correct. He recently commented on a welding post and from my limited knowledge of welding, his information seemed good.
