Ask your brother how Xerox got de copier down to Tribal Headquarters in 80s.

Gave Jeff some money today. Didn't want to, but someti8mes that's the only place that has what I need at any price.

Who knows when it'll arrive.

$70 order. They broke it up into two, the bulk of it on one, but two seventy cent items are in another package coming via UPS. On what planet does it make sense to send $1.40 in items in a package that will cost them $5.00 or more?

Lowes order a couple of weeks back. They shorted me one item out of twenty. Not a critical item, but something I ordered to have an extra of. Contacted them by email. They sent a replacement, one $2.00 item via FedEx.

It's like a Doctor having to provide translation services in Sign, Braille and or dozens of languages... the cost to provide may exceed revenue for a simple visit but none the less required and added to cost of overhead.

Brother said the cost of UPS delivering to the bottom of the Grand Canyon far exceeded revenue but yielded bragging rights. Don't know about Xerox.

We just went to ship something to my BIL in Kentucky. Basicall the size of a decent sized hard back book. I am in Northern Indiana. His house is like 6-7 hour drive away. UPS wnated $50!!!!! Are you kidding me? This was not for overnight service. It was their "take your time it gets there in several days" service. Went to the Post Office... their flat rate box was $15.00. Usually gets there in 2-3 days, but they said with Covid might take a day or two longer. SOLD!

The Post Office also offers a "book rate", which is much less that the flat rate box, but would likely take longer.

When the Wife is out visiting grandkids in SLC she ships me 18 pounds of Tillamook extra sharp cheddar cheese in the large flat rate priority mail box. Cost was $18.40 and has always taken 3 days. No complaints at all.

The $15 for shipping didn't bother me at all. I was simply shocked that UPS was $50. Also had to ship something to the SIL in California.... I don't even want to know what UPS would charge for that!

Very Cheesy but oh so good! :licking: Hard to find good cheddar with any flavor.

They do make good Cheddar! Been a while since I have been in Tillamook, OR. to do a factory tour (if they are even doing them in the days of COVID). Enjoy those shipments!

Cabot special sharp The only one I use to make homemade Mac and cheese

It's the only time I will willingly go to Walmart is to get that cheese. They are the only place in town that sells it. Although I did notice blocks of it at Sam's club the last time I was there.

There must be a story attached to this ^^

Der is. Back in ancient times Xerox still growing like weed dey didn't sell machines, just leased dem on a per page rate. Not much competition but Chester Carlson who invented process smelled future & decided Xerox needed hook in world of advertising. Dat long before he met Brother Dominick de TV star. Carlson hears about Havisu people living in bottom of canyon and looks into being de copier chosen by de people in most inaccessible place because Xerox machine almost bulletproof. Carlson thought he pretty good at makin things happen like he doin wid Xerox Campus and Xerox Tower in Rochester area. Bein good management he assigned getting machine to task group and sorta forgot about. Back den Xerox so busy dey used commercial carting & rigging company to warehouse machines waiting for homes & take to new home and place. Den tech guy come out & set up to copy.

Task group cut deal wid Havisu, including big generator & learned Havisu not selling island for beads like Dutch deal. Group figures carting company make delivery just like always. Dey got what called enlightened. Spent lot of money just figuring out Havisu got no road for delivery truck and Park Service very touchey about machine crossing Park land to get to Havisu Rez. Wind up taking 3 machines, size of desk, apart and having crating company who knows what deey doing crate subassemblys to military standard. Mayflower hauls crates to heliport top of canyon in small groups and Xerox components fly down to Havisu Rez. Even hire camera crew to film some of delivery.

Generator turns out to be fly in de soup. Winds up arriving by flat bottom boat in pieces and gets boomed off boat onto Rez. Finally all gets together wid small warehouse of crated sealed spare parts in foam filled crates and ad campaign gets filmed.

"What copy machine do de people in dis remote place use to print newsletter for tribe and other copy needs" gets all together and Carlson grins. TV campaign got cut short when Carlson found out what cost Xerox to place de machine. Print campaign ran till Brother Dominic came along. Unlike Government Xerox kept their word.

Havisu Rez much more modern now, probably got better delivery system to serve all de hikers .

If you are REALLY into aged cheese, there is none better than that made in the Crowley cheese factory in Healdville, VT.
It is actually aged Colby, and can be had VERY sharp.
I began going there when I was 10 years old.

They make the cheese by hand, in their cheese factory built 1n 1882, though William Crowley actually began making his cheese in 1824.
It is interesting to watch the hand cheese making process.

An extra sharp 2-1/2 lb. wheel is $55, a 5lb. wheel is $100, so it ain't cheap!
Expensive stuff, but an extra sharp 2-1/2 pounder once a year seems quite worth it.
Order with some bags of Vermont common crackers.

Been awhile since I've ordered any Vermont Cheeses. When shipping gets back to normal I'll place an order.

Wife had gallbladder issues the last time we visited Vermont. Usually one of our must have stops is the Cabot factory store in Stowe for a wander through the tasting area and a few purchases to snack on later at the Airbnb.

I had a forlorn look as we passed by the store I couldn't bring myself to torture her with a stop where she couldn't eat any of the offerings.
