I have seen a hundred wrecks under this bridge.

Wouldnt it be a natural thing for a truck driver to be aware of his height. And in this case, there are even flashing lights and other warnings.

There is a bridge much like that I go around almost every day. As you come up to the last place you can turn there are signs saying over 12' 6' you must turn left. There is a place right before it where a truck can turn around no problem. I have had residential deliveries on that road down there and turned around there several times. As soon as you pass the last place to turn to go around it lights flash and a loud horn goes off. It gets hit at least once a month. Not by me because I am not stupid. Once it was a Fed Ex Freight driver. I know him. I never thought he was stupid. I see him all the time at different customers. I asked him how it happened. He said he was looking for an address for a Residential delivery. He didn't notice the bridge right in front of him. The address was the first house on the other side.

If we can't or don't live life in some sort of reality, we are doomed as a species. You can only live "virtually" so much.

The bridge is a hollow box beam, you can see into it where the boom hit it.
Probably 6-8" thick.

Usually the boom is only a few inches too high at the onset. As the tow vehicle goes forward the boom can't, so raises up as the machine moves forward.
I know that my explanation is as clear as mud... or a conversation with a teenager.

BRISTOL, CT (WFSB) - Bristol police are investigating the attempted theft of an ATM.

Police said the driver of a black Jeep Wrangler that was reported stolen from Bloomfield was found by a patrol officer to be dragging a People's United Bank ATM behind the vehicle.



Some people just ain't got a whole lot in the smarts department.

When my wife sees news like this, she usually says "Some people watch too much TV".

They recently raised this bridge but it still takes its toll. They could only raise it so much as it's a railroad.

They had a bridge like that near the house my Mom grew up in. It was a RR bridge as well, they ended up increasing the clearance by digging out under the bridge. My uncle lived at the intersection of the road and RR track. They built a retaining wall for his front yard when they lowered the road.
