Face cord I think is a New England term, or maybe not. No, I meant 3/8 of a full cord or if you prefer 0.375 cord. I think I'll just toss it in instead of stacking, 3/8 is a little heavy for my little tractor.
In 1980, wood in Massachusetts was required to be sold by the cord (4x4x8) or fraction thereof,, it was a law.
A "face cord" was a stack of wood, 4x8 feet, one piece of wood deep.
So the face cord would be a half cord if the wood was 24" long,, the face cord would be 1/4 cord, if the wood was 12" long.
That is why the gobment stepped in, and said "no face cord sales allowed"
So in theory 16"x4'x8' is 1/3rd cord at half the price.
But what size pickup and is the El-camino considered a pickup...........

NOW you're catching on. FWIW, the only place I ever saw face cords advertised was in NY... I was amazed at how much less firewood cost there, until I figured out why. I believe that it's illegal to sell face cords in Maine, as well as in Massachusetts.
