I am trying to understand how you figure 1/2 cord per tote. most totes are 275 - 325 gallons and 300 gallons converts to 40 cu ft which is nowhere near 1/2 cord?

Yes, I figure about 3/8 cord NEATLY stacked in the tote. Love using totes, going to cut new doors in a couple this morning.

I came up with 0.4 cord. Based on how many it takes to fill my woodshed (so averages across several totes).

Face cord I think is a New England term, or maybe not. No, I meant 3/8 of a full cord or if you prefer 0.375 cord. I think I'll just toss it in instead of stacking, 3/8 is a little heavy for my little tractor.

The tote idea is interesting and if you stack high enough you can get more per tote. Although it does seem you would lose a lot of woodshed space using totes if you put them in a shed. I never thought the white plastic the tote tubs are made from would stand up to UV sunlight if you used them as lids but I do not know that for sure.

That seems to be the standard answer. A lot of places here are selling firewood in those... no given size, just "This is what you're buying."

You have to do a good job of stacking to get .4 and that just takes a lot more time.

If you do like most, you won't ever get it...

To answer the question of UV resistance. Most of mine are old and the places that use them do not store them indoors, so I am not too worried about UV.

And I think Rick is a southern term, he got voted off the island last year. Wonder what the term is out west or upper mid west for 16"x4'x8', maybe its called a 3/8 of a 4 wheel wagon load..........

I dont think my little tractor will lift your 3/8 totes at all..
