That's some nice looking beech lumber.

The beech log was a beech at first but sawed out pretty good after got going, then after a board was sawed it just stayed there, never seen anything like it all other limber likes to move. Now after it stickered and bar clamped will it stay put.......


Time to change band belts again, aprox every 3-4 year $110.00.

Interesting.. the follower belt on my saw is loose by design, not tight like yours. And I don't have to take the wheels off to change them.. Do you ever clean the inside of that thing? I blow mine out with compressed air after every time I use it.

Are beech logs and boards such a hot commodity that people are stealing them right off the mill? Do you have a lot of beechheads just jonesing for a fix of beech sawdust? Or do you have packs of rabid wild dogs roaming the neighborhood ready to take you down? Aside from those issues, seems like a lot of hardware on your hip just to run a sawmill...

Same thing for my saw, and mine just uses fan belts, nothing super spl., although I'm betting they are real high quality belts...

You guys probably won't believe me, but both belts on my mill, are original! I've never had to change them!

That's what I had to do, but they still were very unhandy to use...

Just showing that close to half a cord does fit in a tote...in answer to a comment you made about how we can get so much wood in a tote. I cut part of the wider metal side out, cut the bottom off the plastic bin and cut an opening in the side of the plastic so I have access to stack/unstack. What is left of the plastic bin is zip tied to the tote, Takes 45-60 minutes to do the modifications using a reciprocating saw for the plastic, cut off wheel on the angle grinder for the metal, and a drill with a wire brush to deburr the metal cuts..

The advantages for me:
Covered storage that is cheap (I have invested $800 for 32 totes that will hold about 15 cords).
Nothing to rot or repair for years...maybe my lifetime...I am 70 YO
Utilizing most of the plastic means less to haul away to the dump and cheaper disposal cost.
The "cap" acts like a small green house and speeds up drying.
Very easy to use and saves space in the garage Just under 6' tall . Can be moved in the garage with a pallet jack.

Totes may not work for you, but for me they offer advantages over the traditional wood pile, storage racks, or wood shed.
