It's hard to believe what you guys are willing to pay for those things, I was given some for free, a guy dropped them off, and as they aren't that useful, I wouldn't take any more... He could get them for free and offered to pass them on to me for same.

Firewood use, was my first thought for them, then after trying them, I realized they are too small and much too much work to use for firewood.

I have scrap steel and scrap aluminum in them now, something I don't put in or take out often...

I have posted how I modify them a few times. I get just under 1/2 cord in a tote that offers protection from rain and snow. I have 32 and that gives me a two year supply of firewood. Your way works for you now, but may not be that easy when you get older.

I have $800 in totes that should last many years. If I had to build a structure to store 15 cords of wood, it would cost a lot more and be taxed. It takes me less than an hour to modify a tote.

We all have different situations but totes are superior for most users if they have a tractor that can handle the weight. The only downside is that they are rather ugly.

Everyone who has seen how we put up firewood has been envious. It would not be possible or as economical without totes.

I don't have to worry about that, I'm already older!!

I measured how much split wood one of those totes hold, and I couldn't get anywhere near a half cord in one!

A lot of places here sell firewood "by the tote". Thrown in it seems to be about 1/3 of a cord. It makes it convenient because they fill a few totes, drop them off at a vendor, then pick the totes up and refill when the wood is sold.

I calc it out to 0.4.

It takes 15ea to fill my 10x12x7 (outside dimensions, technically) woodshed.

Let's not talk about older. I think you have me beat, but good grief, I screw up sleeping these days. As I rub my neck from 4 nights ago....
