Oldpath, much of our land looks like yours. We had a big Yellow Poplar come down a week ago. Had to move it off the driveway/trail and push it around into the woods until we have time to deal with it. Lifted 1600lb sections with the forks to get them out of the way. That was fun! Not!

No one was nearby to take photos an I forgot to stop and do it. So, it didn't happen right? No photo, it didn't happen!

I think popple is one of the easiest trees to be blown down. The TBN penalty for not taking a picture is you have to go cut a tree or haul some wood, just so a picture can be posted.....

Well dang that stinks, ALL of my trees that fall down are on the edge of a field so I can just drive up with the grapple and pick them up... then they don't get dirty from dragging them all over the place

Fields, no wonder your tractor still looks new. I dont even have one acer without trees let alone flat land..........

It's hard to believe what you guys are willing to pay for those things, I was given some for free, a guy dropped them off, and as they aren't that useful, I wouldn't take any more... He could get them for free and offered to pass them on to me for same.

Firewood use, was my first thought for them, then after trying them, I realized they are too small and much too much work to use for firewood.

I have scrap steel and scrap aluminum in them now, something I don't put in or take out often...

SR

I see a lot of them in the woods collecting maple sap in the spring. I have one I occasionally fill with water. I'll put the forks on the backhoe and can have 300 gallons of water where I need it. I've even used it to feed spriklers to grow grass.

When we bought this place there was one 10 acre hayfield and 3 or 4 acres around the house and outbuildings the rest was all woods. First year we were here I had a logging company come in and clear-cut another 7 ish acres... I did not want all woods.

And my tractor hardly looks new..

I cut and split some wood this evening. Here’s the infant log for the day. IMG_9231.JPG
