@ the old grind Not that I don't appreciate the kind words Jon but you are grossly overrating my abilities. LOL

And a reminder to everyone...all pics, comments, rants welcome here.

Re: Big Barn痴 Retirement Farm Shop

Rant, then. I just found out my guy's crew showed up short today. He'll have to work a route OT to cover and will be home late.

Unless I get a call to help unload it from his SUV tonight I might not see or get pics of the DC Miller until tomorrow or so.

For now,.

So there! :drink:

Re: Big Barn痴 Retirement Farm Shop

I got a few pics last night with a glaring flashlight.

Its features are AC/CC, DC/CC (constant current), and HF for scratch-start TIG.

It's good for 150a w/50% duty cycle in most modes. (80a/50% TIG)

Miller Spec sheet here: https://www.millerwelds.com/files/owners-manuals/O302J_MIL.pdf

EconoTwin.JPG

It's already a 1Ph unit but we'll still have to check internally that it's set for 220v vs 440v, like when we put a cord on it.

Not bad for free .. so far. We have my Everlast to fall back on.

Speaking of welding.... I'm just testing out a new to me electric heat treating furnace I picked up for some upcoming cast iron welding jobs. 12x14x18 chamber, goes to 2000°
I can hear my power meter spinning over the 60hz hum.....IMG_20201112_114351673.jpeg

There HAS to be a story behind the concrete barrier...it's too arbitrary for it to not have something meaningful...

I wonder if you tip it over if Property of DOT is stamped in the bottom.

Hmmm. My wife had a pottery kiln that she wasn't using any more. Maybe I should have hung onto it. It was roughly 30" in dia and 24" deep, and would go to well over 2000°. In fact, once she set it wrong and when we opened it there were puddles of ceramic in the bottom...

That would have been ideal for larger castings. Especially if you had it beside the welding table with a jib crane that swung over both.

Kinda like this? I use this for curing and heat treating.
I also have a smaller front load that is better for heat treating, but it needs some melted ceramic glazing cleaned out of it first..........141705613.jpeg
