Most CARS can drive safely at 100 mph today. The trouble is, when something unexpected happens, very few DRIVERS can handle a car at 100 mph. In fact, I would guess a lot can't handle a car at 50 mph in stressful conditions.

That speed is never reasonable on any public roadway in any vehicle under any circumstances. Anyone doing that speed should have their license revoked permanently and their vehicle forfeit and crushed.
No your just wrong. It's fine in any modern car. Its not that fast.

Rut Roh, the forum police is at it AGAIN
He's likely never gone over 60 and due to a lack of driving skills has a problem at that speed. There will be a slow lane for low skills drivers like him and trucks.

65 mph down here but 80 to 100 is normal at 5 am going to work....I run about 70 to 75 no cruise control.....
They just bumped some of the roads up to 75mph. But loaded the highway up with highway patrol stopping those folks running 80.

When Idaho first went from 65 to 75 years ago they enforced it tight. They had signs that said 75 means 75. Now it's 80 and they don't seem to be enforcing it as much. The truck limit is 70 but they seem to enforce it at 80. Utah is 80 for everyone. I was loaned out to the Salt Lake terminal for a week several months ago. I was pulling 2 48 foot trailers to Cedar City and back daily. I thought 80 would be too fast for that. It's not. They drive the same as they do at 60. Due to the speed limit there they have almost all new tractors and trailers with disc brakes. They don't fade as fast so they work good at those speeds. I came over the Crest of a hill to a backup due to emergency road repairs and was able to quickly stop at that speed down hill. Also pulling 2 48s you have a lot more braks per ton as you can't gross the axles without going way over the maximum gross weight.

Have roads in Texas with 85mph speed limit (toll loop around Austin). Drive 90 and get passed like you’re sitting still!
