Pretty much why I live here too!! That and its a red state with almost no snow!

I have 22 acres and just paid $2,200.00 so it cost alot to live with 10' of snow in ME, not to mention that cars dont last long either. So why the heck are so many coming here, I keep hearing on the news that reality is soring if you want to sell your house nows the best time cause everyone is coming from MA and NY to ME, STAY AWAY it cost to much to live here, but if your a millionaire pool man from SC and love snow it wont matter and its a great place.......

I have 22 acres and just paid $3400 in just school taxes, land tax is in February and should be $1200+/-. We have a child in the school district so we don't get all the STAR exemptions.

I do not hear anyone from here leaving for Maine. I hear a lot about people leaving NYC to move further North but staying close enough to still drive to the city when needed. I hear downtown NYC is almost a ghost town.

It's mostly people from the populated areas of Massachusetts who are buying homes up here because of virus and civil unstability paying outrageous prices,... by our standards. My biggest fear is that they're creating another bubble, and when it crashes the real estate market will be in the doldrums for quite some time.

I fully understand, I'm somewhat in the business. For people from NYC anything North is cheap compared to city prices. And I also fear that the Exodus is going to cause an entire new set of housing problems, a serious lack of trees replaced by cheap, quick built cookie cutter houses that fall apart in a short amount of time, then left to decompose. Then crap trees grow like sumac around them, and were forced to look at that everyday. End of rant.

No no not at all, that was just a generic term thrown out there in the wind, I dont know how drawn to that conclusion at all but if you are a millionaire I'm your long lost 3rd cousin once remove........
