I am needing to replace the driveline shaft I use with my 13KW generator. I see online types that have the push-pin quick disconnect, and those that have the collar push-to-connect types. Any thoughts or opinions of one or the other?

The entire purpose of the generator is to be readily available in times of emergency, and occasionally as electricity in the field, so I can't be messing around and cussing for 20 minutes just trying to get the thing mounted.

Advice?

If the collar worked both ways, as in push to connect and pull to disconnect, that'd be ideal. Otherwise for either install or removal you're trying to move the shaft in one direction and the collar in the other.

I've had PTO shafts with collars that needed to be rotated, and ones with pins. Both work but the pin is easier for me.

That makes perfect sense. I had a collar lock that I didn't like so I'm guessing it must have had me pulling and pushing at the same time. I just don't remember.

100% first choice is the pin. For some reason my collared ones see me coming and quickly dont want to work. The pin ones love me....

I've used both. My collar connector involves rotating the collar one way to release the latch and the other way to secure it. the push type requires the button be depressed during connection and when the button is released the connector is locked by the spring. I'm not sure which I prefer as both have good and bad (or less positive) points.

I have all three on several different implements. My favorite by far is the collar that's on my Frontier FM. It doesn't rotate, you just pull it back to get it started on the PTO shaft and then slide it on until it engages. Then a quick pull back releases it and slides it off the lock at the same time. The rotating and pin types seem to get corrosion and freeze up over the winter. Of course a little spray will free them right up.

The problem with the button is it's never in the right position to push it.
