Good morning!!!!

Good morning! 38 now and sunny, maybe 62 later. Comfortable day to work outside.

Yesterday was one of those quiet days on the phone. 1 call from someone who thinks they bought a used underground machine that is a 田ream puff? I know the machine, it has been abused, mangled, broken, poorly repaired, abused, not maintained, abused some more. Then sold to the unsuspecting. Says it is in 途eally good shape? but won稚 move! Here痴 your sign. One call from a young tech to tell me I was right with diagnosing a problem on Thursday, plus he asked if I could explain the purpose of that circuit and how it works. This specific dealer impresses me with the quality of their techs. That call just added to my respect for the quality of techs they have. Last call was basically wrong company. That was it. So got some training/tech material made.

Since it is going to comfortable working weather, got a pile of ash logs that need reduced in size. Think that will be the project for the day.

Everyone stay safe out there

46° going to only 65°
Cancelled our plan to go to MIL to spread top soil since she got lots of rain.

I should do something productive today but haven’t figured that part out.

"Thomas you had a 24" Zenith new in the box?"
Wife won it in raffle never use it no one show any interest owning so it sat about the time flat screen tv were big thing.
I chuckle to myself when young Best But store tech was looking at puzzle...which I had old dial phone give to him.

I asked because I can’t find anyone to take non flat screen TVs. I still have at least 2 of the tube TVs. One is very heavy. Also have a large projection TV in garage to get rid off. It will get the sawzall treatment, it’s a large plastic case with a projector bulb.

Good morning to all! Low of 43, going to 79. Hazy sunshine due to the smoke lingering. A very outside chance of a shower tomorrow, but highly unlikely.

LS, alas, soon the leaves on his favourite plant will be dying back until next year. Did you know that RS walks up to each and every one of them and with his best Arnold Schwarzenegger impression, tenderly say farewell with the words ... "Hosta la vista, baby".

^^^^:thumbsup::laughing::laughing::rotfl::rotfl:

One tool repair completed.... the old string trimmer is working! It has been sitting on a shelf in the garage for at least 5-6 years. As far as I could remember, I suspected it was the carb.... well my memory didn't fail me. Got it all cleaned up, oil changed (it's a 4 stroke), and fresh gas. Fired up on 2nd or 3rd pull. Took for a walk in some high weeds.... worked great. My middle son got home from work and I showed it to him.... he absconded with it already....

Bearings came yesterday for the table saw, that will probably be first on the agenda today, then probably pull the garden tractor around to tear into the carb on that. I'll sharpen the blades while in the garage.... oh and I guess its due for an oil change.... and greasing.... and a good cleaning.... well that job just got a lot bigger....

RS, what kind of mulch is that? Do you make it or is it commercially available? Looks good.

Went to TSC yesterday to get some tubes of grease. They had a couple of cases of Lucas 'Red and Tacky' on clearance for $3 tube. Good price, so got a case. I noticed some employees were putting out the Christmas items already. ??? Too early in my book....

Drew, hope your headache subsides quickly. I hope your progress continues at an exponential rate! Do you have a time frame for the move north?

Ron, nice blue jay pic. I saw a few of our "mountain blue birds" returning to the feeder the other day, means Fall is just around the corner....

I am 'gonna git goin' while it is still cool out.... and something else crops up!

57 now, feels like 55°, felt ok this morning while we dug up the last of the summer flowers, changed flags and put up more fall decorations. Going mum, cabbage and pansy shopping now.
Have good one.

Good morning! 60s in the morning mid 80s in the afternoon. The Gulf TS is predicted to take a easterly turn as it approaches Texas missing us, we are no longer in the cone but there still is an 80% chance we will get rain Tuesday during FireWise.

Yes Ron Winter garden, I started my plants this morning in the garage, hopefully to transplant (28 cups) them as the first crop in 3 weeks, then I'll plant some more seeds in the garden at that time for the second crop.
Kale, beets, and broccoli so far.

We eat about 3 bunched of kale a week, the beets are for our veggie burgers and the broccoli if for the lemon/broccoli/past dish which we have often.

61 degrees this morning going for a sunny 83. I got up just after 4 a.m., did my exercises, checked news and weather on the Internet, fixed myself a couple of eggs, 2 sausage patties, 2 biscuits with butter and honey, then went to the nearest Walmart just after it opened this morning for 4 items, then to Sam's Club for 2 items, then to Braum's for a couple of containers of ice cream and one box of 8 ice cream cones, and stopped at Buc-ee's to fill the gas tank. In front of Buc-ee's was a big flock of Canadian Geese; both in the grass AND in the street blocking traffic. They didn't seem to mind the traffic at all, and just ignored me when I honked the horn.

So I got done and back home just about the time Margaret got up about 7:30 a.m. Now I was expecting her to want to get out and drive around a bit, but she didn't want to. So I mowed the table and chairs from the deck into the shop, used the shop vac on the deck, then a wet mop, and finally applied a coat of Sherwin-Williams Deckscape. It's not really that bad of a job, but I always dread doing it. But today the weather was right, so it's done.

56F and sunny @ 11:30. Winds out of the Northeast @ 5 to 10 mph ...

Reviewing wind forecasts over the 10-Day, it looks like early morning/late afternoon will be the only times spraying will be realistic in the coming days (winds consistently over 5 mph during midday)

Bird feeders first thing today, while it's warming up. Then replace pin, washer, retaining ring on MMM (in the sun)

After that prep some planting holes for day lily transplanting up by the shop (in the sun)

Check soil @ upper catch basin for moisture (in the sun), likely due to be watered at this point so I'll just go ahead and take water buffalo up with me.

Rescreen previously screened soil to get roots and weeds out of it (in the sun) so I can repair some erosion issues in the southeast planting bed.

Rake out straw on lower catch basin and reseed areas that need it (hopefully in the sun by that point ...)

Work on weeding and feeding last two azaleas in northeast planting bed.

Haul down more mulch and spread.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable, productive, and safe day ...

Chris sorry about the rear end accident, I guess they got the worst end of it hitting your toe ball.

It didn't do much to the Tundra but it was a solid hit. I don't know what part of his ford suv hit but it wasn't just plastic. If I was a little more crooked I would have made him buy me a new bumper. Trying to hook up to the boat trailer has caused a few dings and scratches. Do you think he could have been texting?

;)

RS, what kind of mulch is that?

It appears to be almost all pine so far, you can see lots of needles in it. Dunno whether that will be good or bad ... but it's been setting for at least a year, maybe two, and doesn't seem to have deteriorated much in that time. I have barely dented the pile.

Do you make it or is it commercially available?

Neither - it's the contents of several large chipper truck loads that my neighbor's grandson (certified arborist, works for a tree service company) dumped on his property back when places started charging them to dump.

Looks good.

Thanks. Yeah ... it seems to have an orangish-brown color to it. I'm happy with it so far ... and I couldn't beat the price (free ...)

I saw a few of our "mountain blue birds" returning to the feeder the other day, means Fall is just around the corner....

Those are real beauties ... you're lucky to have them ...

Sounds like you have a busy day planned ... ;)

Put bird feeders out and the birds will come.

You betcha ...

Nice pic.

RS, glad bees are gone. Gardens are looking good.

Getting there ... looking forward to next spring and the new growth.

Another week of 11%.

Good news ... thanks ...

I have a new weed torch. Need to use it on fencelike. Today may be the day. Warmth and weed control at one time.

Sounds like a plan.

I like the one I have (HF) ... except that the hose is kinda stiff ... wish it were more flexible. Also has a hair trigger ... so requires a light touch, but not that big of a deal.

70°F and ,01 inches rain, been a dry week

I’m sure there are more tomatoes to be picked, hopefully some corn.
No big plans for the day. The Dogs area could use a trim, otherwise piddle around with little stuff.

Meeting BIL and his GF for dinner, his birthday today, 65.

Great fun watching the furry kids play and interact. Makani climbing all over Kekoa and him loving it yet you can see how gentle he can be inspite of size difference. Simba resuming his protagonist roll as when he and Kekoa were young. Simba taking advantage of his bigger size to attack and roll Makani. Kekoa steps in to break them up when he thinks the tussling is too rough.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

David, good results. I wonder after 5 camera probes that showed nothing. Maybe I should ask for mail in. :confused3: Picture is great.

.

Ron, my thinking... no history, previous exams clear. If this test came back positive Dr would order the more invasive exam anyway.

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 10:15AM. Abundant sunshine. High 86F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.
AQI 55 and 117, inside and out. Weatherman cautioned that less wind means more smoke. Fire jumped containment on the southern border east of here yesterday afternoon, and there was a constant stream of airplanes and helicopters overhead shuttling between it and the airport in Chico. More work for them today, as they still don't have the upper hand. As a result, another round of evacuations went into effect in that area.

Got a call back from a Rigol tech support guy yesterday, and spent nearly an hour with him talking about AC current measurements and how the data acquisition part of their oscilloscopes works. He was optimistic I could get the results I need, but it'll still mean wading through a lot of data in a spreadsheet before finding the transient part of interest. I was able to use the open source OpenOffice application on a Mac laptop to look at a file from the previous scope that Apple's Numbers application said was too big to handle, so there's hope there. Need more tutoring on how the charting works in OpenOffice, though, before I get the plot I want. Rigol is also having a sale on their hobbyist 'scope, and promoting it with a 5-year warranty. It's only got two channels, but that's probably one more than I really need, and a generous 24 million data point memory depth, much bigger than the one in the scope I sent back. Should be here next week, as Rigol's offices are just across the state line in Oregon.

While I was fooling with that, I started hearing a Stellar Jay's racket somewhere outside the door. I walked slowly up to it and found it in the bird bath, very much enjoying itself. The birdbath is being kept full courtesy of a leaky valve on that part of the whole house sprinkler system, which I found easier to "repair" by strategically repositioning the bird bath than taking apart the valve to remove whatever's propping it slightly open. I call that a win-win situation.

Spotted a trio of mountain bluebirds out on the solar panel rack as I was sipping a beer on the back porch. Don't believe I've ever seen that many together before. Could they be migrating?

Probably gonna take another swing at the alternator warning light issue on the van today, starting with removing the belt on the alternator to check its bearings. The A/C compressor is driven by the same belt, and I've had to tighten it several times to keep it from slipping. My fear is it's too tight for good bearing life, at least as far as the alternator is concerned.

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend and what promises to be some fine fall weather.

David, your environment requires a pretty high degree of self reliance. You're dealing with a situation every day for which the "preppers" out there hope one day they'll be ready to take on.

Speaking of preppers, if you can get past the self promotion and political plugs, this gal has some pretty sound info to pass along...

We got the flowers all cleaned up, tilled the raised beds and changed soil in planters, planted the new asters, mums and pansies, pumpkins, Mexican hats and other gourds scattered around. I repainted the “copper cat” my wife has because he had small areas of rust, I don’t know what alloy it is, I suspect copper plated mild steel or similar.
Now I’m told I’m grilling burgers and dogs for dinner. LOL
Enjoy your weekend.

Managed to do something productive on this beautiful day. Finally got my Wilson weboost installed.
First hooked it up inside and got 10 dB improvement, so installed on back side of garage. Put the amp and indoor antenna upstairs where I keep my mobley internet modem.
Turned it on and got a 23 dB gain on my mobley signal.
I’ve had this sitting around over 2 years probably.
