I still do a little stalking but like I said with 100 acres its easy to push the deer off the property, and disturb them enough and they will shy away. When I was in Texas I ran a 1600 acre deer ranch and stalking was about the only way I hunted there unless I was tending to a guest or something..

When I went outside this afternoon I could smell fall in the air, it must be getting close to firewood time so I decided to start some prep work and get the splitter in for a little TLC, I like to make sure it's all set so I can show them upper mid west yogals that they dont know what the heck they'r doing when it comes to cutting firewood.......

It reminds me of the one they had for splitting 4 foot wood at the brickyard years ago... except instead of the crane they had me.

The only up grade I'll do next on my splitter is wireless remote, but I still get a 12' reach in all directions, something that a splitter with log lift cant do, in my book thats a forest Gump idea and a major design flaw, to put it mildly, not to mention that ridiculous 6" splitting wedge that are on most hic-up firewood splitters, them upper mid west people should read my book............

I'm not sure there is a season on feral hogs anywhere... Pretty much 365 days a year, at least anywhere I've been. Some places regulate night hunting but that's about it. I like living where there are pigs.. I can hunt all year long!

In 2050 I would be 91 years old and lucky to be able to walk my woodlot, let alone do another cutting cycle. I suspect I'll be pushing up geraniums long before then...
