2012 John Deere X500 Deck Leveling

I bought a 2012 X500 and it didn稚 have the deck leveling gauge. I can稚 find a part number anywhere.
The deck adjustment knob shows the deck should be in the 2.5 position for leveling. Does that mean the deck should be 2.5 inches from the ground at the reference points (the triangles) Thanks

Yes, if that is where the deck was adjusted to when set up.

The deck leveling gauge is part #AM136872

Did you check under the seat? The owner's manual indicates it's somewhere else (I think by the deck height knob) but it's under the seat on my x500.

I believe the adjustment height gauge and hex tool is stored under the seat on 2013 models and later. On my 2012 X500 the height gauge is in the center of the cut height adjustment knob.

The deck height adjustment tool measures 2-3/8 inches tall. Anything close to this height can be used... a socket, a block of wood, etc.

The recommended height setting for leveling is so you can use the provided tool. The little triangles made into the deck are designed for a 2-3/8 inch tool. This is important because when leveled with the tool the front of the deck will actually be lower than the rear which is required for a good cut.
