Bad storm last night. Microburst type. Woke me up with tree branch coming down. Side yard outside of bedroom so I had to go check for a blocked driveway or downed powerlines. Just missed both. And the fence. Today will be cleanup day.

Good morning to all! Low of 52, very comfortable this morning, going up to mid 80s again. Yesterday hit 88. Maybe we can get some rain. It poured about 5 miles away from us, but only a couple sprinkles here.

All of the pics and tubes posted today look so much better on the RNG suggested 16" MacBook Pro. So many thing to learn on this machine. It will be a good afternoon project.

The new MacBook has 4 "thunderbolt" slots - smaller than a USB so I think I'll have to get some adapters before my camera can be attached.

I'm glad you like the new MacBook Pro, Don; I have one arriving Monday. Both yesterday and today I was awakened earlier than I'd have preferred when the old 17" "lunchtray" MacBook Pro Early 2011 started spontaneously rebooting, accompanied by that loud startup chime. The video processor is failing, and this morning it took half dozen attempts to get it going again.

I was gonna give you a link to the USB adapter I'm using, but it's NLA at Amazon now. It has ten slots, one of which is a high power charging slot, and all but that one are the fastest USB 3.0 speed. It's made by Anker, a brand I've had pretty good luck with.

I found some on Amazon made in the USA but not N95 they will be here next week. It's not to protect the wearer or there would have not been 1000 health care workers deaths.

The "95" in the N95 masks means it filters out 95% of the particles it encounters. That means you'll still breathe in 5%, any of which is enough to get you sick. Most of the photos of medical workers I've seen show them NOT wearing N95 masks, but cloth or paper surgical masks, which are only good at stopping splashes, or slowing down sneezes or coughs. Considering that, and all the contact spread opportunities in the hospital environment, it's something of a miracle more healthcare workers haven't died.

I went shopping for N95 masks last week at industrial suppliers like McMaster-Carr, and they're all now requiring proof that you work in one of the "essential" jobs before they'll sell to you. I just checked at Alibaba, and there are plenty of choices to be had. Never done any business there, so I have no idea how payment or shipping would work, though.

There was a little wind yesterday, so I had many "opportunities" to tune and add to the rock placements. Just checked, and the whole mess is still in place, though there's plywood peeking out in a few new places. Not surprising, as there have been some 35 MPH gusts during the wee hours when the leading edge of the front came through.

I gave some thought to propping one end of the plywood up with a cinder block so water would run off easier, but there was a large section of the trench that had expanded wide enough to require the full eight foot width of the plywood sheet to span it. And at only nine feet wide, that would have left an opening not covered by the tarp to let in rain or catch the wind. I'm seeing some pooling, and wonder if it'll be enough to collapse the sheet. I cheaped out and bought 15/32" sheathing, not the 3/4" marine plywood I'd have preferred. But it was a $18 vs. $35 decision, and for something I'll only use once, it didn't seem worth it.

We were supposed to have thunderstorms this afternoon, but they've shown up early and are very hard to sleep through. First the room lights up like a photographer's studio, then a long peel of thunder ends with the sliding glass door rattling in it's track. Not much rain so far, I hope the lightning strikes don't spark any wildfires.

Thanks for the ideas on the masks...I was hoping for N95 for that exact reason, RNG, and to use them when doing certain dirty dusty jobs here at home. I won't look at Alibaba since I'm not too trusting of the Chinese Communist Party right now.

Many of the masks advertise that they are xx% effective against bacteria...which is nice but does little to protect against the covids. The others are fashion statements, but at least allow one to not be breaking the governor's executive order.

I saw online that our local Ace Hardware is giving one to each customer...just asking for a $1 donation to a children's charity...sounds like a good thing, and I know some other businesses are giving them out in order to keep customers and to not be shut down by the govt since that is the enforcement tact...make the business do the enforcing and if not, then yank their license.

The state has set up a tattletale toll free number to call.
