74F and partly cloudy @ 12:00. Rain around throughout the region. We're currently in a clear spot between a couple of bands of storms ... but likely will see precip before very long.
Meanwhile the grass just grows and grows ...
Got to digging around on McMaster's website yesterday and found out that they have a lot more bushings than what my impression was, based on a recent search - spring type, bronze, and sorts of trick stuff (oil, graphite, and PFTE-embedded) ... and the prices seemed fairly reasonable.
I thought that was the case, probably from past research I had done, and was a little confused as to why my recent search results on the site weren't turning up more options :confused2:
So first thing today will be to review RNG's loader bushing replacement thread and see if I can glean any useful information there. After that, take some measurements with the digital calipers to determine the bushing lengths for the rod and cylinder body ends, and the bosses for the pins on the loader frame.
Then some research on material types to see what might be most suitable while trying to avoid anything too exotic/expensive. There is some temptation to use something that has some inherent lubrication - probably oil or graphite-embedded - to minimize wear. Ideally, I might be able to figure it out to the point of at least being able to verify inventory and possibly be able to place a bushing order by the end of the day.
USPS just delivered part of the DHH order - unfortunately it was the "non-essential" portion (for the immediate job anyways) - they were running a "special" on five 36" x 48" full-color charts showing the various hoses and fittings they offer ... and it included a very nice brass keychain that that comes apart via a quick coupler. If nothing else, charts will make great shop **** ...
The remainder of the order had a zip code error and was apparently sent to the next PO over and is currently being sent back to the main PO for rerouting. Hopefully that will show up tomorrow ... and not be sent back to Philly ...
Anyways USPS employee "Terri" is on it ...
Hope everyone has an enjoyable, safe, and productive day.
(FWIW, the one pin (bucket end) I checked last night measured 1.02 on the captured portion and 0.983 on the portion subject to rotational wear. That does not include the wear in the bore itself obviously, which was significant)
