The owners manual for the MMM does not include any info on the removal of the mower deck.

Can anyone tell me how to remove it and in what order to do things?

How is the PTO removed and does it take any tools? Does it stay with the mower deck or removed completely?

Do you set the height to the lowest setting before removal or leave it at your preferred cutting height?

Is there anything to look out for when pulling the deck out?

Also is it normal for the cutting height adjuster to be very hard to turn?
Sometimes it seems it will not turn at all and other times it will.

Thanks in advance for any advice or tips anyone can give me.

Turn the knob to the lowest setting. Lower the deck to the ground completely. Unhook the the mid pto shaft from the rear of the tractor. Reach under the bottom and the shaft will have a collar. Pull the collar back and the shaft will move forward. Go to the front and unlatch the front hanger. It will fold forward and down. Once loose I go ahead and remove the hanger. Go to one side and pull the pin for the rear arm,l then repeat for other side. Once it’s unhooked you can start the tractor back Up and raise the 3pt all the way up. Turn you deck knob to the highest position. Not this part there is some controversy over. The deck is built to be drive over. It’s the same as the Mahindra series. But as a caution I’d use the loader to raise the front up and pull the deck out from the side. Just watch you pto shaft as it comes out.

If you are going to pull it out from the side, rotate the wheels
on the deck before you do anything else

Thanks for the advice.

A few more questions.

When you say "Pull the collar back" are you saying pull it towards the mower deck?

Is there a trick (or proper way) to get the height adjustment dial to turn easy? Mine turns very hard most of the time.

The front hanger - Is that a separate item by itself? or Does it stay attached to the MMM?

And I do NOT plan on driving over the deck AND do plan on turning the wheels 90 degrees.

If you are on the rear of the tractor the collar on the pto shaft will move toward the front of the machine. It is spring loaded. You hold it forward and push the shaft toward the mower deck to slide it off the mid pto shaft.

As for the lift lock knob, just make sure your 3pt hitch is fully lifted before trying to adjust it. If it will not turn to the highest position then your lift linkage are probably not adjusted correctly. You would need to check the specs on the MMM manual.

The front hanger is separate from the mower deck. When you pull back the locking pin it will rotate forward and down. Once it’s released from the tractor frame you should be able to lift it from the front of the mower deck and set it out of the way.

Thanks for all your advice/tips.

I did finally get the deck removed. I figured out the "collar" was at the PTO shaft and not the rod going between the PTO and deck.
When I got the collar off I tried to put it right back on and had no luck doing so, so I'm not sure how it will go remounting the mower.

The locking pin on the front hanger was really hard to pull out.

Now that the deck is off the next project is to drill holes so the wheels can be pinned at 90 degrees.
I had turned the wheels before I started but because I couldn't pin them the deck was basically on the ground
and still hard to pull out. Oh well live and learn.

Glad you were able to get it off. My front hanger pin was tight too. Not sure what type of work you will be doing with the mower off, but if it involves the use of a 3pt implement I would make sure you keep you away links in the back adjusted. If it sways a lot it will bend the rods that run from the lower links to the deck linkage. Even if you get them adjusted at first make sure to keep an eye on them. Mine always seem to work loose at some point.

I've been reading this thread but haven't chimed in since I have a different brand and wasn't sure if they mounted/dismounted the same. I found that a thin film of lubricant on both the PTO shaft and the internal surface of the coupling helped a lot. I use a spray type garage door lubricant from the makers of PB Blaster. You'll find it at the same place you got your machine.
