need wiring schematic for my IH 284 diesel ignition switch

Bought new ig switch. Thought I copied the wire color scheme but ended up with a solid red wire and ran out of terminals. This is a IH 284 diesel .
Any help for an 84yo that used to be a pretty good handyman wba.

I looked through many of the wiring links that Alan W provided.

At most I see ignition switches with 5 terminals. Does yours have 6 terminals or is it that you have 6 wires and 5 terminals?

Many switches have more than one wire per terminal.

Can you follow your red wire to see where it originates from. I suspect it is either power to the ignition switch or a connection back to the charging system

How are the terminals on the back of your new switch marked or labelled?

Did the old switch have more terminals than the new? If not then how was it ever connected.
At this point you are going to have to get a meter and or test lamp and start tracing the wires and see what they go to.
Then you can hook them up correctly.
