Good morning. It's 67° here with 87% humidity and light winds. Our forecast says 85° this afternoon. Two lines of storms are coming in our direction. The early one, mid-day, should be light but .. the late afternoon one is predicted to bring high winds and rain. We don't need the wind but, some rain would sure be welcome.
I mowed our local roads with the New Holland TL100A yesterday which took a big part of the day.
Then I spent the rest of the day working on the rebuild of the rolling ladder I bought used a few years ago. Sorry about crappy picture.
It's similar to this one;
It needs a few joints welded up, then sandblast, prime, and paint. The casters are about 3" and not original. These things are designed for use on smooth concrete warehouse floors so I'm making mine more suitable to get off the concrete. I'm building some new caster bases to increase stability, increase height. They will be 6" x 40" wide with a set of 8" fixed and swivel casters. The swivel caster have brakes also.
I bought some 6" C purlin for the cross struts and used my Ridgid battery grinder and thin grinder cutoff disc, to cross cut the purlin material and cut slots where the casters will be mounted.
The casters are bolted to 2 x 6 x 40" pressure treated lumber that slides into the purlin sections.
Today I'll drill 3/8" holes thru the top side of the struts to secure them to the 2 x 6 boards. Then drill holes, nearer the center to match up with the present ladder caster plates to attach the struts to the ladder.
Patricia told me that Houston PM traffic, on her drive home, was back to normal yesterday. It was nice while it lasted!
Everyone stay safe and healthy.
Prayers to all.
