My choice would be to slit the bar with a thin 0.75mm abrasive disc in a 5" angle grinder. Like using a chainsaw on a branch, working so that the cut opens instead of pinching would have it down fast.

My brother made me a believer in cutting metal with a grinder, I don't think he had a saw.

Good morning! A warm 70˚F before sunrise. Today will be my first meet-up with the FireWise group since the lockdown. Since we can only meet in groups of 10 we have split into two groups. I missed last week to do tractor work that morning. A possibility of scattered showers this morning, but rain for sure this afternoon when I have again scheduled mulch moving with the tractor.

44 going to 65 and sounds like the wind won't blow us away today.

Bear woke us up at 2am, one old feeder bit the dust. I bring the good ones in at night...leave a few old ones, or ones that are fixed to posts. Bear managed to evade my two game cams, although caught a coon climbing up on the porch.

LS, real nice fence.

Have a good day!

Poured second cup of coffee. 32° with light snow this morning. Heading to 56° with mix of sun and clouds. Dog are going to want a ride on golf cart today. Some garden pond maintenance today. I am ready for 70° and 80° weather forecast starting thursday. Flyovers are planned for today and tomorrow in Michigan. Hope I have my camera handy when they fly by.

44 outside this AM. Heading to lower 60's. Zero plans. Yippie. Clean slate. Just need to restart the porch demo. Shucks, that sounds like a plan. LOL.

I use/used an angle grinder to cut metal, concrete, brick and stones. Trust me, when I was gutting the inside of my dairy barn...I went through some real metal. And a lot of it. Just make sure you have a fire extinguisher nearby.

That is a nice fence, LS.

Hope all have a good day today. Be safe.

Good morning. It's 67° here with 87% humidity and light winds. Our forecast says 85° this afternoon. Two lines of storms are coming in our direction. The early one, mid-day, should be light but .. the late afternoon one is predicted to bring high winds and rain. We don't need the wind but, some rain would sure be welcome.

I mowed our local roads with the New Holland TL100A yesterday which took a big part of the day.

Then I spent the rest of the day working on the rebuild of the rolling ladder I bought used a few years ago. Sorry about crappy picture.

It's similar to this one;

IMG_5066.jpg

It needs a few joints welded up, then sandblast, prime, and paint. The casters are about 3" and not original. These things are designed for use on smooth concrete warehouse floors so I'm making mine more suitable to get off the concrete. I'm building some new caster bases to increase stability, increase height. They will be 6" x 40" wide with a set of 8" fixed and swivel casters. The swivel caster have brakes also.

I bought some 6" C purlin for the cross struts and used my Ridgid battery grinder and thin grinder cutoff disc, to cross cut the purlin material and cut slots where the casters will be mounted.

The casters are bolted to 2 x 6 x 40" pressure treated lumber that slides into the purlin sections.

Today I'll drill 3/8" holes thru the top side of the struts to secure them to the 2 x 6 boards. Then drill holes, nearer the center to match up with the present ladder caster plates to attach the struts to the ladder.

Patricia told me that Houston PM traffic, on her drive home, was back to normal yesterday. It was nice while it lasted!

Everyone stay safe and healthy.

Prayers to all.
