Good evening all. 53F for the start, partly sunny, light breeze. Wind peaked 12-17 mph, sk became mostly cloudy, and high temp was 78F. Rain coming through tonight, and 4 more days of rain and 2-3 total.
Went fishing this morning for about 1 hr. on lake, no good strikes and no fish caught, still nice time on lake. Came home and mowed, then went for bike ride. No nap and I am tired will catch up later
Covid update Cooke county has data mismatch, the county reports 11 confirmed, 2 active, map reports 12 confirmed, Montague unchanged, Grayson up to 91 confirmed cases

41°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 60° today.

The Wife's nephew came by Friday evening to pick up his "stimulus" check, which somehow was mailed to our address. His mother brought him. They apparently got into an argument on the way, and she pulled away as soon as he got out of the car and left him there, 40 miles from home. Wife took him to cash the check (he has no checking account), and then drove him back home. It seems little wonder the guy has so many issues getting his life together. Besides his father almost completely ignoring him his whole life, it appears his mother isn't exactly up for Parent of the Century either.
People.

Got some stuff done Saturday before I pooped out for the day. Picked up a new fill valve at Rural King for the upstairs toilet, which decided to not shut completely off starting Thursday night. Got that installed with no leaks (a first, I think). Started on the removal of the fence at the side of the barn. It's 1-1/4" solid bar welded together, and it's not going quietly into the night. I figured the reciprocating saw would be better than cutting wheels on the grinder, but it turns out not so much. I'm getting about three cuts with a blade before having to replace it, and the third cut is a chore. After getting a corner assembly removed and cut up, and three horizontal bars removed, I threw in the towel for the day. My hands, forearms, and back are still hurting this morning. Trying to decide if a cutting torch or a chop saw would work better. The DeWalt is just beating me up too much, and taking too long.

Sunday was spent mostly puttering. Went to the bakery and picked up some donuts at The Wife's request. They were already picked mostly clean by the time I got there at 7am. Puttered around in the studio with my aching hands most of the rest of the day while The Wife sat in the living room finishing up a cross stitch project she's been working on for awhile. She decided to "take the day off" for Mother's Day. At her request, I made lasagna for dinner ... one of her favorite meals.

The flyover they staged around the STL area, RNG, were some Missouri National Guard B2 bombers. As cool as that sounds on the surface, I was initial struck by the question, "Why does the Missouri National Guard need stealth bombers?" Had me wondering if they are planning raids on neighboring states. If so, I was wondering if they might start with Chicago and Springfield. :D

Paul, try a Diablo sawzall blade from HD. They have one that is carbide tipped... I used it to cut the metal rails on the porch project (about 40 cuts). It had been used previously to make about 10 cuts through 1/4 in x3 in angle iron. It is still sharp as can be! Here is a link. They are available elsewhere too...

I’ve been known to drive some golf balls down into the woods.

There’s a local chip and putt course that gets little business. Place been sold least 2 times in last 5yrs. 2nd owner back put in batting cages, changed greens to synthetic grass. Mainly a driving range.

Did neighbor put in privacy fence? Or is that a snow fence?

His attempt at holding back the dirt.... when he told me he was going to do it... I literally laughed at him and told him only allowing vegetation to grow is going to prevent the soil erosion. He said he had already purchased the materials. I think it is more of privacy fence so I cannot see him discing the fields again.... does he think I will not hear his tractor going back and forth? .... thanks, now you got me started....

There is talk amongst the neighbors about filing a civil lawsuit for damages to property, Health / air quality, and road maintenance. All totaled, maybe a 75-100K lawsuit.....

A long day... I am wore out, mr. knee is complaining, back is complaining... but... I got the area of split rail done, including the gate! WOOHOO!

Actually went faster than expected, the LS and PHD worked flawlessly. Now the next part... installing welded wire fencing on all of it. 200 ft to be precise.

I cannot believe what came out of my mouth today... wifey asked if I was going to hand staple all the fencing... I said...yes. She then asked if they made a staple gun for fencing. I said ....yes. She asked how much? I said too much, about $350. She said I think that would be worth it .... at first I was stunned.... then the statement came out of my mouth that I never thought I would say.... NO.. THAT IS WAY TOO EXPENSIVE TO BUY A TOOL! I still cannot believe I said that...

I have already bought the 5lbs of fence staples for $7.... I just know I will be eating my words for a while....

A few pics of the work today:

The widespread rain and Tstorms forecasted for today did not materialize.... had a couple brief sprinkles... enough to leave spots on the windshield only. Here is a sunset pic of the last remaining clouds...

Busy afternoon.

Doctor's office for check-up appointment, then Walmart for more Mobil 1 oil and reading glasses (struck out on both counts), then Home Depot for correct light bulbs, then Skyway Drive-in for snack - got the SkyHigh Burger, side of onion rings (they forgot to include salt :() ... and a 32 oz. Hot Fudge Malt ...

I didn't realize how big that 32 oz. would actually be ... decided that it looked like "a coma in styrofoam cup" when he brought it out to the car. Turns out it was ...

After that, pet store for canned cat food and cat litter, then Chipotle for her dinner, and finally to the drug store to pick up prescription.

Then home.

Passed out on the couch after the evening news ... woke up about an hour ago.

41F currently ... couple of nice(r) days (partly sunny, high 50's/60's) ahead before the rain heads back in ... but 80's are in sight on the ten day forecast ...

Good morning, 26°F and going to a high of 45. Wind E 6 mph. A few flurries.

If the flurries are light enough I will cut the grass. If not, then I will find other mischief to get into.

By this time in a week you will find me traveling down Hwy 11 to the salt mine/work.

I have part of the schedule for the summer. Lots of traveling. Load out of Toronto dump it in Timmins then deadhead to Thunder Bay and load there for Souix Lookout.

Have a safe and healthy day all

Good morning, another frosty night, sunshine should get us up to 11C/51F later this afternoon.

My arms ache this morning, my fault for too much enthusiasm while dragging out from the top pond the invasive weed that was missed by last weeks tractors pulls. I did it for just over an hour before tea and when I came back the radio was announcing that from Wednesday, the Covid ban on fishing in England will be lifted, so that was good timing. Normally we can fish still waters all year round, only rivers have a close season. When I was younger, you couldn't fish any fresh water for 3 months from the 15th March, making the 16th of June one of the highlights of the year. Think I will get my old glass fibre rod out ready for an hour or two on the bank side tomorrow just to experience again that thrill of a prohibited activity becoming permitted :)

PJ, that's a really solid construction for a garden fence, if I lived a closer, I would volunteer to cut it down if I could have the steel ;) My choice would be to slit the bar with a thin 0.75mm abrasive disc in a 5" angle grinder. Like using a chainsaw on a branch, working so that the cut opens instead of pinching would have it down fast.

LS, I'm with you on using a hammer for staples. I could only see part one picture before our broadband took exception to all the morning internet traffic, enough though to see the rails on your fence looks great !

Wng, how thick is your beard - will you need higher scope mounts before you can see where to aim your son's present ? :D
