Hello, could someone give direction/advice on rebuilding leaking cylinders for ML 112 FEL? Degree of difficulty, price, parts availability etc. I can provide serial numbers for all 4 cylinders if necessary. I was told repair is expensive through a shop here in southwest GA. Is it as well to buy new cylinders for the money...??? I also have a BH650 backhoe attachment that needs the same hydraulic cylinders treatment. Can someone assist me please?

I rebuild all my 6520's cylinders. I leave the housing tube on the tractor and pull the rod and piston out. I take the seals and orings to my local hydraulic shop and they sell me all new ones for less than 30 bucks. Backhoe swing cylinder was $8 for seals and orings.
Google hyraulic hose, motor, gearbox overhaul shops in your area. I can't believe rebuilds would be more expensive than new ones of the same length and bore. Heck, we have two hydraulic repair/rebuild shops in Conroe.
FYI...........Some Mahindra labeled cylinder parts are not available. When I bent a 511 backhoe stabilizer rod, I had to have Houston Hydraulics cut and weld my rod fitting onto a new rod and rebuild the cylinder for the price Mahindra quoted me for just the rod................after the Mahindra parts guy refunded my money and told me the rod was not available. Hope this helps.

I just pulled the 1st cylinder off to rebuild... And would be interested in any tips you have... Shops around here want $170+ per. Cylinder..

Leave the cylinder base installed. Unscrew the gland nut and pull the rod and piston ram out. Disassemble rod piston nut in a big vise with blocks to support the rod and break the nut loose. Install a new nut upon assembly if you can. Remember how much grunt it took to break it loose and install it with the same amount of "grunt". If the gland nut assembly is small, I take it with me when I buy new seals, packings, and/or orings and ask the local hyd. shop employee to install the inside packings and orings for me. Then I reassemble at home and torque the piston nut back to the grunt needed to remove it. Be sure to swipe out the cylinder base of all old fluid, taking care not to leave any rag pieces stuck in the port at the bottom of the cylinder. Upon removing orings, seals and or packings, lay them out in the order they came out. It can be confusing at first. Also take note of directions packings face, as they can be installed upside down or backwards. Lubricate anything new with hyd. fluid before installing. Piston packings and orings can be compressed with a worm clamp to get it "shunk" enough to slide into the cylinder base. Just keep everything clean and organized and all will be fine.

Did you cylinders have the little slots near the cylinder end where you have to get an internal "snap ring" to slide out? I think b someone may have replaced mine at some point in the past.

I haven't rebuilt my loader cylinders yet. Just like my backhoe's cylinders they have two holes on the gland nut for an adjustable gland nut spanner wrench to fit into. My spanner is 3/4 drive. Here is a link to one..........Adjustable Gland Nut Wrench | OTC Tools I think I got mine from Amazon.
My CAT excavator has snap ring wire pins that snap into a locking hole. Even with these removed, the gland nut is a beast to remove.

Did you ever find any rebuild kits or replacement cylinders for your ML-112 FEL. One of my lift cylinders sprung a leak today and i am having no luck finding any part numbers for either rebuild kits or cylinders.

Thanks,
Joe

Yep, I ended up pulling the pistons out and taking them to a shop for the guy to mic out... I'm not 100% sure they are the original cylinders, but I'll. Be happy to call him and get the sizes that he used.

That would be great, if you don't mind. I thought maybe you found a part number for a kit that was available. I have several hydraulic shops here in town. I guess I could pull the cylinders apart and do the same thing you did. Thanks for the info.
