Pallet forks for your tractor

Plus, the visibility that the bucket takes from the clamp-on forks makes it a very tricky experience.

I made a set of clamp-on forks for my previous loader. I didn't use those much and it was very hard to see the tips of the forks.

On the new tractor, I made a Euro style quick attach set of forks, borrowing the forks from my 70's electric forklift and I use those things all the time.

Very useful, it's compact, you have decent visibility over the forks. It doesn't extend the load forward like the clamp-on forks do.

Some thoughts------

Considering the lifting capacity of most CUTS are 'real' forks really needed?
Well made clamp on forks probably come close to the maximum capacity of many CUTS anyway.
Also never to forget the bucket ratings are at a specified distance from the tractor and that loaded forks are far more forward of you loaded bucket.

All to say that a 1000 capacity bucket/tractor probably should not lift more than 500 lbs on the center of 36 inch forks.

(I was a fork lift sales rep 'back then')
Absolutely real forks are necessary if you want to maximize your lift capability!

This is a good thread with a variety of brands listed. I like the looks of the Everything Attachments forks since they are built heavier than some, built in the USA, and reasonably priced. I wish they offered a single thumb grapple add-on option for their forks.

Many times it's NOT just about lifting either... Most guys end up using the forks for prying too!! And you better have good forks, if you have much of a tractor, and start prying on a tree root/stump of bigger rock ect.!

I bent the backing plate on my Titans simply stacking logs... I pretzeled it prying logs out of the ice. The tongs themselves are rugged though... You really do get what you pay for.

Forks used as a "prying tool"???
That is what a backhoe with hyd. thumb is for!

Ha, I pry with my bucket often, and for roots etc I made a nice HD clamp on tooth that I mount center of my bucket.
OK, my bucket wears a DIY tooth bar so it can take prying.
That 'clamp on tooth' is made from an old truck axle and is just great to pop out cedars and spruce saplings.
I drive the 'tooth' under the roots and curl the bucket and out pops the sapling.
No damage what so ever to by bucket.
Nice thing is the roots come clean, no soil.

I have one and I have to admit to still prying with forks.

Some of us have backhoes, but there are times that it would take longer to put it on than to get the job done using another tool. My normal implements to have on are the winch in winter, and the tiller or winch in summer. Anything else goes on just long enough for the task at hand.

Some of us NEVER take the BH off!
Just use a separate tractor for the 3pt tasks.

Must be nice! I've got more than 1 tractor, but still need to take the BH off. The BH lives in the barn on a dolly most of the time. I do use more than one tractor together to accomplish some tasks. Alternating implements helps the job go much faster than trying to get it done with one.

I took my BH off one day and just about flipped the tractor picking up something with loader. Scared me. Im in no rush to remove it again. I just wish my little B series kubota had 4 wd, would make it so much more useful.

If one NEVER buys new tractors, they can likely afford several used tractors.
If I were made of money, I would always buy new, but I ain't, so I don't!

I’ve dropped mine off the M59 a couple times to fit my into a space I couldn’t with it on but I’ve never put the 3 point arms on.

I use my backhoe so rarely that I couldn't justify having a dedicated tractor. It would be nice to have one specifically with my winch though... it's a real pain to take it off just so that I can till or mow for a couple of hours.

I had my previous Ford 3400 TLB for 33 years, and never put the 3pt arms on either.
The only time I took the hoe off was to spray paint, two years before I sold it.

If I had a wider mower I might use my M59 to bushhog but limited to a 5 foot mower and a non removable loader the L3800 does a lot better and cheaper job. I can’t say that I wouldn’t ever use the M59 to box blade with but again it’s easier to just use the L3800.

I do all that other stuff with my very sweet little restored Ford 1920.
Just the right play size for me.
