Hey gents,

My mom recently sent me this photo and I was wondering if you fellas could help me identify the tractor/mower in the background. I believe that pic was taken in the late 60's/early 70's. I know the picture is pretty grainy but it's all I have to go on.

I would love to get a similar model one day (I have a 60hp utility tractor now) for mowing the grass and posterity purposes.

Thanks for the help!

I'll get the conversation started. It reminds me of a 1960's John Deere model 110.

I’d guess a John Deere 110 or 112 (round fender) built between ‘63 and ‘67

I guess what's throwing me off is the deck handle and the headlights. They don't look like a normal 110 or 112.

Lot of people back then put their own lights on them. That's back in the era where 8-10 hp single cyl was a BIG tractor ...

Would mowing a couple acres with this be a giant pain in the rear or more of a trip down memory lane? I'm excited about having the model he owned but I don't want to buy something that's going to be a non running money pit.

Most of the ones like that now days are fixed up and collector items... Maybe used in parades.... :)

Here is my younger brother riding Dad's 110 roundfender bought new 1964.. 8hp Kohler engine. Pic taken summer '94

Brother asked me to rehab it for him, and it sits now in parts with everything sandblasted and painted. Trying to find a good fuel tank, as it is not usable.

This 110 was mowing 6-7 acres of lawn in those days.

I like that custom clutch pedal extension that he is lockleg'd down with his left leg.... :)

That picture is a classic. Right down to the station wagon in the background.

If you're referring to lever in photo below IIRC that's the factory installed manual lift lever for mid-mount mower & plows.

Jim
Think JerryK see's the extension added to the left foot pedal that allowed brother to clutch and brake.. due to short legs at 8 or 9yrs old. That handle is the manual lift for the mower deck, or whatever needs lifting. No hydraulics on this one.

I think the original photo isn't clear enough for my aging eyes to see clutch pedal alteration & the photo I sniped is WORSE.
