Good Morning!!!! 63F @ 5:15AM. Plentiful sunshine. High 87F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
Temps are headed up for the next few days, almost 20 degrees above normal for this time of year. With no rain in sight, the grasses and wildflowers won't last much longer. That's not such a bad thing from a wildfire standpoint, though.
That polarizing filter works really well, Ron. Is the water warmer near the bottom of the pond because of heat from the ground?
Hard to wring that new shooting bench out when the weather's not cooperating, Buppies.
Very cramped quarters inside those doors yesterday, but both now have the sound deadening installed. Glad that job's done, but now there's the rest of the van to do.

But the electric actuators for the door locks are on the list for today.
I mentioned "not being interrupted" yesterday, and it looks like today will be the same. The trucker hauling the new-to-me Kubota
M62 TLB was due here Friday, then Saturday, and now who knows? Supposedly the gentleman driving is an older man from West Virginia that doesn't text message, and apparently doesn't even return calls inquiring about an ETA. I'd hoped to have a photo or two to share with you all by now, but this is the best I can come up with, which was in the ad I answered on Machinery Trader almost two weeks ago now. That was the day the old tractor croaked, the straw that broke the camel's back. The one that's hopefully showing up today is a 2016 model with about 120 hours on it, and I'm hoping that even though it's long out of warranty, all it needs is the 100 hour maintenance of new filters and fluids. But hope in one hand and spit in the other, and see which one's got more in it, right? Like Tom Petty sang, the waiting is the hardest part.
I think it was Kyle that first jumped on the
M62 bandwagon, but it turns out there are at least three variations of them out there, so he, along with Ted and Wng, got "you're getting warmer" responses to their guesses. Didn't want to be misleading, but didn't want to give away the gag until I had a current picture to share, either. So much for best laid plans. If it ever gets here, this one has both the loader and the backhoe, and from the photos I've seen, that's about it for options besides the rubber pads on the BH stabilizers. My conversations with the sales guy in Oregon earlier this week covered possible upgrades, but I'm waiting until the tractor gets here so I know for sure what I'm working with. I'd like to end up with hydraulics on both ends to power a grapple, the side shift on the flail, and a thumb on the BH. Maybe even top'n'tilt, but not if it turns mounting the BH into a goat rope. I don't even know if there are 3 point arms on this tractor; they're an optional accessory and there's no sign of 'em in the photos.
In the past I've made a lot of noise about not getting another Kubota, but after talking with a few
M62 owners, it seemed the best fit for what needs doing here. Durability was my biggest concern, and with almost three times the weight of my current tractor, the
M62 is built like a tank. No more issues with broken loader mounts, or the latest bugaboo on the old tractor, cracked rear wheel hubs. We'll see how it goes, right?
