I had a Traxxa Aton for a while. It was a nice drone at a good price but it wasn't camera friendly. No integration. Had to manually attach/adjust/start the camera before taking off. And no remote viewing. Fun if you just want to fly for sport but probably not what you want. There are much better ones out there that seem to be able to hold their position better and follow filmed subjects. If you follow 'Our Wyoming Life' channel on YouTube they use one quite a bit for filming. As others have noted, the sound will likely be a challenge for getting near livestock. But you can see on that channel that they do pretty well around cattle with the one they have.

I have an FAA permit to fly my Drone. I'm not a commercial licensed pilot. FAA knows my Drone by it's serial number. There are very strict restrictions on where and how you fly. I am very considerate of violating people's space. I rarely fly in heavily populated areas and if so it's at events like at the local Dragstrip or a Parade. I maintain courteous height when near people. I don't want my Drone to be a nuisance.

FAA regulates my height at 400ft. Here's a pic from that height.

I believe everyone in the US needs to be registered with the FAA to fly a drone.

^ ^ Actually, each drone over 0.5 pounds must be registered with the FAA, but there is no restriction for recreational flying. If you are flying in pursuit of a business, you need to have a license.

I use a DJI Phantom 4 Pro+

It was almost $2000 but has one of the highest fellootin cameras in its class. I use it for footage in TV commercials.

Mine makes a racket, so you really couldn't sneak up on any livestock or anybody with it.

I have the FAA license, since I use it 'in the pursuit of a business,' and I have experience with jumping through hoops with the FAA. They can be problematic to fly anywhere around airports.

In this video, I had tower clearance to fly to photograph this airport's fly-in event, and I still needed an associate to walk with me to deal with all the angry pilots thinking I was an amateur hack flying around their planes. 2?19Wings&WheelsUpdate on Vimeo

I've also had to have my drone 'reprogrammed' to ignore its internal flight restrictions around major airports, because I fly it indoors in urban areas near Class B airports.

Yeah, it would be very hard to control. But could be easily enforced if checked. But who's going to check? I registered because I thought it was the right thing to do. I keep a copy of my registration in the Drone case.

DJI now $100 off. Mavic Mini now $399.
The mini gets you under the license requirement.

I didn't say everyone needed to have a drone license, I said needed to register. You're correct on the 0.55 pound exception. But it is not true that there are no restrictions. There are various restrictions including such things as distance requirements from an airport.

Thank you for clarifying. I should have said there are no restrictions other than the rules... and yes there ARE rules!

At least one TBNer has been posting videos from one. I might jump in.

I think I've had mine 3 years but maybe 4. Time flies. I have no idea how many flight hours I've put on it. Nothing like a commercial user would but several. When I'm flying regularly I'm pretty good with it. I've only had it out twice this Winter. So I'm pretty rusty right now. Have some projects to do with it when the weather clears. It'll come back to me pretty quick. :)
