Good Morning!!!! 50F @ 7:15AM. Sunshine and a few clouds. High around 80F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph.
In other words, a perfect weather day.
Got a scare when I drove the tractor up the ramps onto the trailer yesterday. I noticed the front of the trailer rising up, and thought the hitch had somehow come loose. It's happened before when loading motorcycles in the 5x8 trailer, due to operator error. But the hitch was latched. Turns out that the weight of the tractor was enough to compress the leaf springs holding the rear axle in place, which caused the springs on the front axle to lift. Once the tractor was all the way up on the deck, things went back to level again. Still made me nervous all the way into town, especially the first mostly downhill part, which has some sections steep enough I had to goose up the trailer brake controller to avoid over speeding. No further issues, and no word from the dealer on what they think is wrong. But I have a good idea of where most if not all of my stimulus check is going.

Listened in on a panel discussion yesterday of mostly lawyers covering the PG&E payout to fire survivors. Nothing new, but I was taken aback that the survivor claims have taken a back seat to those of PG&E bond holders, Wall Street hedge fund managers, big banks, insurance companies, and now even PG&E, who is paying fines using millions from the settlement fund. Worse, while all the others get paid up front in cash, survivors have to settle for more than half paid in PG&E stock, which could well be worthless when, not if, we have more fires caused by their negligent power line maintenance. As usual, those that have lost the most benefit the least. BTW, let's not forget that 20% of the 13.2 BILLION dollar settlement fund is going straight into the pockets of the lawyers that are supposed to be representing the fire survivors. Do you suppose that's why the lawyers are pushing the survivors to vote "yes" for this crappy deal?
Here's a
link to the video of the discussion, just in case you're curious and have nothing better to do with two hours of your time.
Not sure how far I'll get without tractor power, but I'm gonna start putting together the solar panel rack today. Like a big, heavy erector set...
It's hUMp day!!!
