28 right now...high in the upper 40's today...

Got an e-mail yesterday (from the company VP of HR) requesting all salaried non-exempt (which I am) volunteer to take a 20% pay cut for 12 weeks. Since I'm drawing full social security, I can swing that without too much pain. Funny thing, company claims we had a banner year in 2019, but with the 737 fiasco, the COVID-19 virus (airlines shutting down or cutting way back) and, of course, some bad decision making by corporate...I guess those 2019 profits evaporated. Well, a cut is better then an unpaid furlough or layoff (one of which is still coming, no doubt). Even with this, we're still doing better than a lot of folks...
BTW, the payback (by the company) is, those who volunteer for the pay cut, will get 10 extra days vacation in 2021...

This is pretty cool...

Good morning, still cool for the time of year and dull, yet quite pleasant as rain is only light.

We have a couple of acres of wetland that gets bigger every year. I have always believed it is only wet all year round because the railway company has not maintained a hidden drain that passes underneath. In other fields the new ponds created by the exceptionally wet winter have been gradually draining away. Curiously, the extra couple of feet of water sitting over the wetland suddenly receded very rapidly, as if the extra pressure may have forced clear some blockage.

I am tempted to put my waders on today and venture into the swamp to try and see what has changed. If I trail a rope behind me, I should have something to pull on if I sink down too deep - if you don't hear from me again, I probably just forgot to tie off the other end  :)

Good morning, the temp is 26°F and going to a high of 41. Wind NW 2 mph. Mix of sun and clouds.

I've got the exhaust almost done. I am not happy with the 2 1/2" stack pipe, but it will do until I can get a 3" one.
I have pics up to where I am at with it, now. I will edit them and post later today.

The fancy new mail boxes at the end of my road are shut down. It seems that the contractor that installed them last summer only leveled the spot and threw some gravel down, then the pedestal and the box. Well it is spring and clay heaves in spring, the box wont close properly so the postie is holding our mail at the PO. Now I have to go to town every weekday to get the mail. That is all well and good, but what about the ones that don't drive?

My summers' worth of furnace oil/dyed diesel got delivered yesterday. 450.4L/119.15US gallons for $508.95 or $1.13/L tax in. $4.27/US gallon tax in.

Have a healthy day all

Eric, if you had suggested yesterday that you were going swimming in quicksand, and then didn't show up today, that might have been a good April Fools prank. Hope you make it safely. Any of you remember some of those scenes in old movies with quicksand? An old cowboy movie comes to mind, but can't remember the name. When I was a kid, one of the ways we were warned from going swimming in the nearby borrow pit was a kid was swallowed by quicksand there. One really did drown there.

42 and drizzle, going to 57.

Ted, prayers said for your sister's family.

Roy, sounds like you have a good attitude. You still gonna be working in 2021 to get those vacation days?

Getting ready to log into the Census website and do the deed.

Neighbors cat that lives here got trapped in the barn last night. Sometimes It goes in there when I mow. I called for it last night after mowing in case it went in, but no response. Tonight I go to barn and it hops off the ZT seat. It likes to lay there when it gets in.

Was chilly out, in 40s. Used ranger to pick up weeds wife pulled out of flower beds. Dumped that over the hill.

USPS didn’t deliver the missing amazon items that I’m trying to get. I think they lost them. If you look at tracking it says I redirected them ( which I didn’t) and now I changed the delivery date (I’m only trying to get USPS to do their job). On a different item my son ordered, amazon gave status that the package was lost.

Raining now.

Had that happen to me a couple of years ago with a garage door opener motor. I kept getting apology letters every month for six months, then finally admitted it was lost and refunded me. A total of about 8 months.

39 outside this AM. Heading to 60ish. Rain chased me out of the pastures.laye yesterday. Looks like the string trimmer walk of shame today. No way around that.

Finally got a food order in. Six days out from today. Ahh.....supposed to be peak around that time. I might venture out before that and see what I can find.

Eric....I think wading into a wetland to fix a drain isn't the safe thing to do. Can you find another option?

Roy... sounds like the company is trying to do the right thing. Good luck to you.

Have a safe day all.
