Ironically I visited that plant when I was back in school. it was something to see. I suppose it is long close down now.

A few remnants of buildings left. It was a huge operation in the 50s, 60s, 70s.

About buying American, if American workers would work for Chinese wages our goods might be more price competitive but can you even imagine that happening?

Once you have seen rows after rows of machines taking in wire and spitting out nails off of a conveyor belt dumping into the nail box, well, I was impressed. One employee going between the machines which were totally automated, and gluing down the flaps of the boxes with a big brush dipped in glue. Nails, fence staples, all sorts of stuff. Kinda of noisy though. :)

OR if manufacturers and their executives did not demand such extravagant salaries and bonuses etc...they could cut the profit margins...Then take the majority of the profit away from the shareholders...it would do the same thing ten fold...but that ain't gonna happen either...!

'Nother point I've been trying to make for decades. if a company gets in trouble, the FIRST thing to be cut should be executive pay and benefits. Minimum of 50% before any employee cuts are made.

.
So,
All the media posts Hospitals are overwhelmed, swamped.
,
My local hospital stopped elective surgery weeks ago. Built all kinds of special rooms for this crisis. They have one coronavirus patient. One!
Now the hospital is basically a ghost town. Most employees are being forced to not work, because there痴 no scheduled work.

Really makes you question media hype , and political decisions.

So , a big hospital, empty, doing nothing, and the employees not working. ....

Executive over-pay is a contributor to the difference in costs between US manufacturing and China mfg.

the CEO-to-worker compensation ratio was 20-to-1 in 1965. It peaked at 368-to-1 in 2000. In 2018 the ratio was 278-to-1

You dont have to look far for reasons that US mfg is being decimated.

"If a person makes above $99,000, or a couple makes above $198,000, no check will be given."

Is that you? :dollarsign: If so then you don't need a nickel. :D

Washington was the first hot spot due to a consolidated case in a nursing home, CA followed right behind..as NY took off like wildfire with cases. Now New Orleans is coming on strong. ...Boston is flying under the radar but if my suspicions are true... the numbers are going to blow up here in the next couple weeks.

....I fully believe income is irrelevant. The more you make, the more you have to spend to do so.
