Technically yes, but it is so diluted with the surrounding air that the risk is extremely low. At 6 feet it is "believed" (but not proven) that the infection risk drops precipitously due to the relatively low concentration in the surrounding air. What I don't know is how much concentration is actually needed to infect someone. You'd have to find a virologist to answer that question.

If you go to the grocery store...other than the self check out...how can you stay 6' from the cashier?...who by the way has to handle all your items...after handling the items of the person that was ahead in line...

Doesn't the virus replicate inside the body? So one little virus that has traveled miles, finds a host, eventually grows into a full-fledged infection? :confused3:

It doesn't' work that way. If it did, we ALL would have it by now.

Most of the infections are when you bring in enough vira, or viruses. There is numbers of viruses that need to be present in the body to be infected, so not just one. Most of the infections from this virus, SARS-Cov-2 has been from contact. For those of us that like phone apps, and interesting one is from Healthlynked called covid-19 tracker.

What do you all think of these drive by meal orders? My daughter offered to get one for me this evening from a restraraunt that i frequent. Her husband said that he microwaves them first. I cancelled her offer.

Cheers,
Mike

You are right about that ... we could ALL kiss our collective butts goodbye. I'm just bothered by the fact that everybody is using the 6 feet estimate as though it is gospel. What about 7 feet, or 8 feet or 10 feet etc.? What about people who were infected and nobody can figure out how? Perhaps the virus can travel much farther than is quoted? I'm just speculating but it sure would be nice if we knew the truth so ALL could behave accordingly with less stress.

I too think hospitals are needless spreading COVID-19 for the reasons stated in the story.

Hospitals by nature are problematic... this is why outpatient surgery is a great alternative in that you have to be healthy to proceed...

I struggle with the concept Mike. I think the safety of it all depends on how the facility is handling it.

Are they wearing gloves?
Are they changing them with every contact?
If not wearing gloves are they sterilizing their hands before every customer?
Do we know for sure every worker inside is virus free?
Is the money exchange virus proof?

I haven't went thru a drive-thru since this started. I can't answer any of the questions above.....

If we lived closer my wife and I would deliver you some meals with your safety in mind.

Protect yourself Mike. Sorry you are having to go thru this.

I believe that no can come up with an infallible guideline, I see know there is talk about going to a modified manner of operation soon so the economy has a slight chance of recovery.
Also I heard reports during one of the updates today that before it's over at least 80% will have contracted the corona virus or Wuhan Flu.
I guess if a person wanted to make them selves a bubble to hide in feed it air from a UV and HEPA filtered system they could reduce the odds.

Thanks Richard.
Actually I'm pretty well stocked up. It's just my cooking that sucks. It seemed so appealing to get the carry out. Oh well. Thanks for the offer my daughter.

Cheers,
Mike

Food is essential so we all have to get it somehow...DUH If I had to choose between a drive thru and a sit down restaurant, the drive thru would be the lesser of two evils. Kroger has a pick up service that we are planning on using soon. Order/pay online then pickup at store. Kroger brings order out to parking lot and loads into your car. No need to enter store and be exposed to other customers or a high risk cashier.

I admit I'm not up to speed on Senate rules - BUT
If they HAVE to be present to vote - What happens when the Republicans drop out due to self quarantine?
Three have so far.

I'm not familiar with your system but, in the 'Westminster System' that we have the governing party and the 'Loyal' opposition party can/will agree to 'pair'. So if one (or more) cannot be present for a vote, the other party can/will stand-down one of theirs.

This past fortnight, and to maintain the "social distancing" within parliament, all of the parties have agreed to stand-down half of the sitting members... in both houses.

Is that 80% a worst case scenario? Wife and I are high risk senior citizens so if 80% happens our days are likely numbered!

We have our first confirmed case of Covid-19 now in Taney county (Branson, Mo. area). Apparently a resident who travels a lot and brought it back with them. Nice huh. The Mayor is having a big meeting.
So the mayor is getting everyone together in one big room? :)

I went in last Monday for dental cleaning. The dental tech said her husband's school was shut down but all faculty and staff were required to be present for a mass meeting (about the need to maintain social separation?????)

My dental appointment was delayed for that office's rare staff meeting. Then I was told they had been recommended to cancel all appointments, and they were already wiping down everything between patients. Next day they cancelled my wife's appointment before she went in. I must have been one of their last patients. They're closed for the duration.

I understand your concern. But everything we know, and it undoubtedly is not enough, says it doesn't just spread in the wind. The Chicom's say the majority of their spread was by family members. I don't put a lot of stock in the Chicom's data, but doesn't it make sense that high urban population density having way more spread than low population density seem to bear that out?

Where was Dr. Fauci ?

I don't know if it is face to face or teleconference. I am not invited. AND wouldn't go if I was:)

As you know there is no real industry here in Branson, except tourism. I am sure this is weighing heavily on their mind.
