Hello! I need to replace the shift fork on my 1952ar John Deere. I removed the clutch assembly bet the clutch cylinder won稚 come off. What痴 the secret?

Would it be possible for you to add some pics of what you are running into, and the "clutch cylinder" that won't come off? tks

Not good at recalling how to get at the shift fork, but maybe someone will chime in shortly that has a better answer for you.

I'd think you would go inside by removing the tranny cover.. or maybe not.

Can't help without good pics. First I've seen reference to a shift fork in many moons. The shift fork came loose on my wife while she was driving it to work on our 1969 Alfa Duetto Jr. She called me about it. I went to get the car, leaving her the lowly Fiat 124S sedan. Had to drive back in 3,4,5 only. Luckily, it would corner fast and all. The bolt holding the shift fork in place just unscrewed. Found it against the magnet in the bottom of the transmission case.

My apologies. Yes it is the clutch fork. Still can’t figure out how to take the clutch cylinder/drum off to change the broken fork.

So go over to YT and ask there. That’s why I linked you to that resource. Most guys here wouldn’t know an AR if it ran over them. I haven’t had a two cylinder clutch apart in 25+ years so I am not gonna tell you something I can’t remember correctly. You will have to ask the correct questions. You will not be able to post pics there right away.

Take your pick. They are all over ebay for under $25 free shipping. entire assembly or just the shaft. Plug and play.

LOL

I would recognize it, as it was about that year when I was driving an AR just south of Waterloo, IA where they were made. Remember well the times I would dig/pull boulders out of the field with the AR. Loved driving it, but frustrated that it had a large turning radius. Not like the JD H narrow front..

But alas, never had the reason to see the insides of the clutch. Just don't let Dad see a time when the clutch wasn't snapped in place when moving. Still remember the blitz up side the head as a reminder.. :D

Hope the OP keeps us informed as this fix continues..

Remove the 4 bolts holding the clutch shaft housing & pull assembly forward exposing clutch engagement fork.

I don't see any ads on Ebay for a A603R clutch operating shaft.

The fork comes out when you remove the 4 bolts in the housing right where the fork broke. Remove those 4 bolts and pull the housing forward and the fork normally pulls out with it.
