Toilet paper

Boil tap or rainwater. Collect the steam. 'Course, you need the contraption to do that.

You can use your dehumidifier and collect the water..

Both good ideas. Gotta work on that. I have some time, looking around we have about 3 or 4 gallons on hand. Maybe enough for almost a couple of months.

Drove through small town Belfair WA for work today and stopped at the local grocery chain. Fortunately I am a member since only members could buy TP. And even then only 1

Summer Crow Kabobs
submitted by Gordon Krause (Crow Busters Founder)
Ingredients
16 pieces of crow breast meat (no bones) (8 crows)
16 pieces of green pepper
16 cherry tomatoes
8 button mushrooms
8 ears of sweet corn
1 1/2 cups of Teriyaki sauce
1/2 cup melted butter
8 kabob skewers
Preparation
Cut each piece of crow in half and place in a covered bowl with the Teriyaki sauce over night. Clean and cut each ear of corn into 3 pieces. Cook in boiling salt water for 10 minutes. Alternately put corn (3 pieces), green peppers (3 pieces) and cherry tomatoes (3) along with 4 pieces of crow meat on each skewer. Use 1 mushroom to top each skewer. Brush with melted butter and place on preheated grill for about 4 minutes. Flip, butter again and place back on grill for another 4 minutes. Repeat one last time for a total of 12 minutes or until they appear done. Serves four adults.

Residents of the State of South Australia are called Crow Eaters, I have never enquired as to why but I may now.

And what's with the ultra strong! Is this a selling point? :confused3:

Maybe they got the spelling wrong and it was supposed to be ultra soft? In a pinch I will take ultra strong TP over no TP. :toiletpaper: :toiletpaper: :toiletpaper:

Maybe they should specify grit?

Since this is a thread all about TP... what do you all think the 'grit' range is? Is Charmin higher grit than Costco brand?

Yes it is a selling point. I’m not super familiar with this brand, but I believe that there is and Ultra-Soft and an Ultra-Strong.

I won’t get into the details, but at this time, generally a weak sheet is a softer sheet. The fiber used, the chemistries used, and the way the paper machine is set up and operated all come into play in making that sheet softer.

And no, they do not measure softness in grit, they do have a machine with a phonograph like needle that is dragged across the surface of the sheet to get a number for the surface feel of the paper.

This number can be correlated to the opinion of a group of people called the “softness panel”. The Softness Panel is a group of people (usually women) who are sensitive enough to discern minor differences in the softness of the paper. This is a pretty exclusive group.

And because the Papermakers are generally not on the panel, (and may have anterior motives, I.e. stronger paper is easier to make), they then have a number that they can use to manage the operation of the paper machine.

Costco can determine what their target softness is. Many of the technology patents that applied to making soft tissue have run out and now there are a lot of paper machines out there that are capable of making a soft sheet of paper. That being said, most of the big players have strong R&D groups who are very secretive about any new process improvements that will cost effectively improve softness, or give them an edge in the market.

But generally, Costco can say that “We want a sheet of paper as soft as Charmin” and they will find a manufacturer who will make that for them.

Can we suppose that you work for one of Wisconsin's many paper mills? Your state produces more paper than any other in the country.

@Peter315, Beware of mold and pollen spores in your dehumidifier water. SimS

Speaking of marketing BS, where did they come up with this "Mega Roll" term? One mega-roll equals 4 regular rolls, or so they say.

Speaking of Costco, was just there yesterday. No toilet paper (evidently, they sold out within a couple hrs) but they had nearly full pallets of different types of tissue boxes. Duh!!! People have no imagination. We got the Kirkland brand, obviously...gotta be thrifty. They had plenty of baby wipes as well, selling 1 box per customer. Some food items were being rationed as well, like their rotisserie chicken (oh, it's so good!), again 1 per customer.
