Not sure what touching your face has to do with contracting it anyway. Confused on that.

...

Again, from the CDC:

[h=3]Spread from contact with contaminated surfaces or objects[/h]It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.

Rut-Roh... you are going to be using your fingers pretty soon!.. :)

I have enough to last until the leaves come out, so I'll be fine. :D (I did pick up a couple of budget rolls, just in case.)

Sigh.... testing should be local, if you have the tests. The country that built Amazon cannot deliver test kits. What the heck.

This country didn't build Amazon. It was a private venture. Perhaps that's why it functions.

The virus can live for 3 days. You buy some canned goods from the grocery store that were put on the shelf by someone who had the virus and now the virus is on the can for the next 3 days. You wash your hands when you get home but 2 days later you grab the can again and fix a meal in your home. You get infected. There are so many ways . . . .

Good point. Better to dig out your stockpile, and replenish that with what you just bought. I've been delinquent about rotating my supplies anyways and some of it's a couple of years old, now is a good time to fix it.

The stupid needs to stop pronto. Back to normal NOW. Everything open and scheduled as normal. There is NO reason for all the CEOs to be sending out messages to their mailing lists. National Guard/? Really?

People need to grow up.

If you know of a way to stop the spread of the virus please speak up now, you will be a hero. Reading about all of the ways that the virus is being spread makes it obvious that people won't do the right thing on their own.
I stopped into the local corner store for a cup of coffee today, and they were talking about recent updates. One person is a shop teacher at the HS and was commenting on how hard it would be to teach front end alignments from a computer screen. As everybody else was talking there was an old guy with two soiled paper towels laid out on the table, he get rotating them as he wiped his nose then would lay them back onto the table again.

I don't see the big deal with TP...if you're at home anyway...its just as easy to time a daily shower after a constitutional...

Tissues, paper napkins, paper towels, box-o-rags from HF, so many options.

Schools closed here until end of April. Daughter is an elementary school teacher and they are meeting today to figure out how they might continue the teaching/learning while kids are at home.

We just had that discussion at work with a guy that was freaking out about toilet paper. If you're at home, that's fine. But away from home, who knows? Haven't seen any outages of TP at businesses yet. But then again, I don't 'go' at many businesses, either.

For perspective, I recently read somewhere that at the Pentagon building, they go through over 600 rolls of TP per day!

It's horrible to think about but it sort of relates... The wretched conditions that existed in the trenches of WW1 got so bad with dysentery that what latrines were available were overwhelmed and unusable...the soldiers were forced to defecate into their own hands and throw it out of the trenches...
...Conditions sometimes call for extreme measures...it can always be worse...

When I was overseas we carried around our TP on our belts.

Personal Hygiene.

That IS a horrible thought. However - perhaps all my pocket gopher holes can come to some beneficial use.

I worked with 3 guys who had been college roommates; they claimed they went all of one semester without TP. They just did as you say and jumped into the shower... obviously they didn't have girlfriends coming home with them.

I may be going out on a limb here...but I suspect that it won't be long before someone comes up with a systemic type spray or compound that actually kills the virus...it should not have to go through typical human testing if it's effective and made from non harmful ingredients etc...it should be available before any human tested vaccine etc..?

I read about a quinine and zinc concoction that is supposed to slow down the virus but I don't know if it is just one more snake oil idea.

Chris

They peddled that stuff a few years back claiming to rejuvenate dead car batteries. IIRC.

Keep us updated.

Or boyfriends.

Girls can be just as, if not more, lax on their personal hygiene. My current job allows me to see all types of people in all types of living conditions. No gender, nationality, religion, political persuasion, amount of wealth, etc... is immune from bad hygiene. It's nasty. :p
