Be aware there are fake tracking maps that look very similar to the legitimate maps that have been linked to in this thread...

This is how misinformation gets spread...to the best of my knowledge NOBODY said any links posted in this thread were malicious...what was said was that there are some bogus maps out there and to be careful ...

I went back and looked:
I read your sentence with a different meaning than you intended.
I read it as: there are fake maps, that look similar to legitimate maps, that have been linked on this thread.

Sort of like how "This is their new hoax" can be interpreted 2 ways...

Is your sentence clear or ambiguous?
We might need an English professor for a definitive answer, but obviously for me, I got a different result than intended. My bad...maybe.

You make a good point on how concise and clear communication is critical during this pandemic.

"All of this surface cleaning surface is mute"

What can be "mute" about a surface cleaning?
Surface cleaning has always been unable to speak.
Maybe....MOOT ????
When I surface clean my vocal cords with some good 'ole Virginia white lightning I'm mute for a while. That's a moot point for a mute point.

Not sure what touching your face has to do with contracting it anyway. Confused on that.

Myself, because of my age and the fact that I'm a survivor makes me err on the side of caution, especially when I'm around strangers. You never know who has it and who don't and if the are contagious or they aren't so a little bit of common sense goes a long way toward staying alive and keeping on keeping on.

The big issue in all this will be the economy and how that relates to being employed and bringing home the 'bacon' if you do that that. I don't. I'm retired from my day job and get SS plus I farm and that isn't changing. people still have to eat. so my income don't change at all. Having said that, it you are in the workforce and the economy goes south (which it is), will you have a job (and income) tomorrow or next month? No income equals no rent or bills paid and no food, toilet paper not withstanding.

Could get and probably will get real ugly.

Being a realist, I prefer to plan for the ugly so if it don't come to ugly, I'll feel better.

This ordeal reminds me of something a Platoon Sergeant told me in Vietnam. "Combat becomes serious when the bullet is coming at YOU.."

A day or two ago someone posted a link to an interactive map that showed U.S., and you could click on individual states and counties. Now I can't find it.
...but then someone else later said that some links on this thread were malware, but didn't specifically say this one was.

Does anybody have the link and know its ok....or have another good link?
Thanks.

Edit: I think I found it: https://hgis.uw.edu/virus/

Yes, this site is fine. It's just from a college student and it's likely to start getting a lot of errors as the number of reported cases increases. I see that he put 7 cases from Orleans Parish in Louisiana in Orleans County, NY. It does give sources on information for each of the cases which is nice.

The other site is run by John Hopkins, but they stopped putting county by county info up. It's only by state.

The stupid needs to stop pronto. Back to normal NOW. Everything open and scheduled as normal. There is NO reason for all the CEOs to be sending out messages to their mailing lists. National Guard/? Really?

People need to grow up.

This is an interesting read. About the tribulations of testing.

Coronavirus Test Kits | COVID-19 Test Kits | Coronavirus Testing

My comment is two fold, First is, why bother. If you contract it, you'll know it pretty quick and secondly, the central government always fiddles while Rome burns. Been that way as long as I can remember, not going to change. Best offense is a good defense. My defense is being the hermit that I am and always will be, Besides, I don't like people in general. I find most people to be disgusting a'holes.

Finally, don't come to my place with ill intent, you won't like my greeting.......:drink:

I may be going out on a limb here...but I suspect that it won't be long before someone comes up with a systemic type spray or compound that actually kills the virus...it should not have to go through typical human testing if it's effective and made from non harmful ingredients etc...it should be available before any human tested vaccine etc..?

I read about a quinine and zinc concoction that is supposed to slow down the virus but I don't know if it is just one more snake oil idea.

I went to the grocery store this morning. Got there before 9 but there were a lot of people there. I guess everyone wanted to get there before the crowds, The tp isle was empty. Supplies of rice and pasta were low. Thank goodness I was able to get double chocolate brownies.

I was in two grocery stores today... they both are rationing their toilet paper... one per person per day. How much toilet paper do people use, for Pete's sake?

I normally buy in bulk twice per year. I still have two rolls left so hopefully the crazies will be all stocked up by the end of the month when it's my turn.

Apparently that's not true. You can have it, and not show symptoms for up to 14 days. You can become a carrier, spreading it around without knowing it.

From the CDC:

[h=2]Watch for symptoms[/h]Reported illnesses have ranged from mild symptoms to severe illness and death for confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases.
The following symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure.*

 • Fever
 • Cough
 • Shortness of breath
