Yes it is! That's my point!Starter isn't part of the engine/drivetrain?

In with your owner's manual, there should have been a warranty booklet that that states what is and is not covered by the MFG warranty.I have been searching online to see if my starter is covered by the 10 year powertrain warranty and can find no answers. The Hyundai service department did not mention it was covered. How do I find out if my starter is covered?

Exactly... the coverage sucks for the typical things that fail. Even then, it's a fight to get it covered and my guess is 'you' lose 99% of the time. Who is going to bring in a lawyer for a couple thousand dollar fight. They got you when you bought the additional warranty.never purchased extended warranty on anything.
When I was in business. I performed some work for warranty companies, but not for very long. They want cheap labor and make the customer pay high deductibles.
Many people that purchase these contracts never read the 50 pages of the contract. That's why they always get screwed when they need to use the warranty.
Just always remember. These companies are in the business of making money, not losing money. And they are very good at what they do.
If you are inclined to purchase one of these extended warranties, You better be sure to read and understand the entire contract

Powertrain is what moves the car. It won't move with a bad starter motor. My powertrain warranty states that the engine and transmission/transaxle are covered and that what is not covered is the same as set forth in the "What is not covered" section of the Hyundai New Vehicle Warranty and the starter is not listed there or anywhere in the warranty .

Warranty has many exceptions like accident, water, abuse, modifications, rats chewing wires, etc.
How do you know starter motor is bad?
I'd call the dealer. Your can is within 10yr/100k powertrain warranty. It won't go.
Call dealer tomorrow and ask what all is covered.
Keep it simple...end of story.
I had it towed to the dealer. They told me the starter was bad and is not covered by the powertrain warranty.
