My pharmacy uses the style that U have to align 2 arrows in order to open.
I use a box knife and carve away the little tab under the lid leaving me with a cap that will open in any position.
While I really don't have any problem with aligning the tab I modify simply for convenience, besides I recycle those pill containers to store small parts and who needs safety caps on a container of small screws.
It's a double lid. The inner lid won't engage until the out lid is squeezed onto it. The thumbtack pierces both the outer and inner lids, holding them together so you don't have to squeeze them.
