RNG nice work om mixer, is the van doing a mixture enrichment when starting, if it were carburated I would say you have a choke issue.

I agree, Ron, except that the Subaru engine is fuel injected. It's something to do with temperature, maybe a bad wire, dirty connection, wrong connection, or ??? I've tried lots of things, but at this point, just don't have the time to fool with it. Gonna try one last hail Mary plea for help on the Subaru forum, and hope for the best.

RNG, an inclinometer on a long straightedge is almost cheating, Now you have a fancy laser lever, I thought you would take every opportunity to use it and mark every post, with a tape measure to adjust the vertical on the upside. If you would like a refresh on the trigonometry from school days, this pic seems to be one of the most popular to help remember that opposite, adjacent and hypotenuse mnemonic Hollywood Fringe - sohcahtoa :confused2: :ashamed: :D

Math is nice, Eric, but there's nothing like making a measurement to prove something's right or wrong. The challenge is that the augered holes are all different depths, the height of the ground at each hole is unique, and it's impossible to see the level laser line in daylight. Right now, my thinking is to string a line over the center of each row of holes, making sure it is level with the laser and photo detector. Then pour a foot +/- of concrete in each hole thick enough to end up with a common depth at the top of the concrete. David's tamper idea can do double duty as a depth gauge, and there will be some math needed to calculate the target distance from the string to the top of the concrete, but if done correctly, I'll have a common point of reference to work from at the bottom of the holes, and can pre-cut the posts instead of trying to do it up in the air. That's important because yesterday I learned that the bandsaw took about twenty minutes for each cut, and I'm not sure my arms could hold the porta band up that long while standing on a ladder.

You might want to check that URL: Not sure how Sohcahtoa relates to trig or posts???:confused2: Nice set'a knockers, though!:D

Very muddy outside work has slowed to a craw

Trying to work on a 15ー slope in the mud would not be my idea of fun, Buppies. I don't think even Jay's crampons would help keep you upright, and you sure don't need any more bruises!

Fingers crossed for good news at the dermatologist's. Surely he's got that new pool in the backyard paid for by now, and doesn't need to do any more work on you?:confused2:

What about using a plasma?

I don't have a long enough extension cord or air hose to reach that far, Bupps. Sure would be a slick way to do it, though.

If push comes to shove, there's always the 4 1/2" angle grinder and zip blades. It's a LOT lighter than the porta band, and might even be faster...

Good Morning!!!! 57F @ 4:30AM. Partly cloudy skies. High 68F. Winds light and variable.

What an awful, helpless feeling sliding down the driveway next to your Toyota must have been, Jay. Felt it once myself, when my Toyota pickup took off down a steep, wet grass hill, with me holding onto the tailgate trying to stop it. Fortunately we both got to the bottom without hitting anything, huh?

Got most of the pipe cut yesterday afternoon, but repairing a broken blade meant two more are left for this morning. Funny, that blade let go just as I was starting to monkey with one of the motorcycles. I think the saw was jealous!

Finally got through to the propane guy yesterday, too, and the 1000 gallon tank will be here on Friday.

And my neighbor's all set to do the trenching on Saturday. Even better, there's only a slight chance for rain over the weekend in the 10 day forecast.

What day is it? It's hUMp day!!!:cool2:

I think I'll try that out!

My brothers, in Iowa, both keep a spray bottle, with windshield fluid, just for that purpose.

Me? I laugh at them for needing a snow blower.
