The Revenant. It depicts how rough life used to be. It has some of the best scenery of any movie too.

Actually it depicted some of natures elements that no human could possibly survive in...I don't care if they could crawl inside a fresh dead horse carcass....if everyone back then did that instead of dying from hypothermia there would be no horses left...!

wet clothes and sub freezing temps unprotected in the elements a human is only going to last a few minutes at best...!

Pale Rider parental guide lists a lot of the things as to why a movie gets it's ratings. Plug in your movie of choice and read what it says about the movie.

Parents Guide - IMDb

That guide is messed up, I watched Bone Tomahawk because the UR, big mistake and wont watch that again should've been RRRRRR+X. I usually like Kurt Russell's movies but didn't like that one at all, talk about violent that was far worse then Pale Rider, slicing and dicing people up is to much for my taste. Couple of reasons I like Pale Rider is the girls prayer and Clint is using the same revolver I have and reminds me of the Shane movie......

Trivia? What great western show did Kurt Russel's father play on...............

Terry and I recently enjoyed "The Mule".

Do you remember the year or main actors? I looked that up in imdb.com, and I see several entries.

This is a great off topic subject...
I did recently see the film you cite and it was good...graphic violence is often cited as the cause for MA or R ratings...

However my peeve is not so much with language etc it with what they call "artistic license" especially when depicting historical events etc...but one notable exception is with both the TV show and the movie 'Deadwood'...The writer claims that research dictated the use of certain dialog (ad nauseam). I simply fail to believe that the language that was depicted was typical for the times...

TFIC...At least thanks to the movies we now know for sure what happened to Jimmy Hoffa...:D

And JFK, well sort of.....................

I wasn't sure where to post this, I just went by where the other movie topics was on. I was going to rant on a thread that was already started, but a 2007 thread I thought was to old, I didn't recognize hardly anyone. I recognize everyone here...........

I tried watching Deadwood but couldn't see Roy Rogers acting like that so I moved on...........

It was a 2018 movie...

I also liked "Beguiled", but it's a 50 year old movie.

I thought that was done in 'Shooter' (2007) with Levon Helm's character (Mr. Rate)...!
Shooter (27) - IMDb

Roy wouldn't have survived a day in Deadwood.

Shooter (2007) - IMDb

Here is some dialog from the movie : Shooter (2007) - Levon Helm as Mr. Rate - IMDb

Trivia:...Levon Helm was an accomplished musician and vocalist who toured and recorded with 'The Band' who were Bob Dylan's mainstay for many years both on stage and in the studio...

Mr. Rate : Would've been a bad job to take, though.

Nick Memphis : How come?

Mr. Rate : Whoever took that shot's probably dead now. That's how conspiracy works. Them boys on the grassy knoll, they were dead within three hours. Buried in the **** desert. Unmarked graves out past Terlingua.

Nick Memphis : And you know this for a fact?

Mr. Rate : Still got the shovel!

Bob Lee Swagger : Suppose I was looking for man who could make a 2200 yard cold bore shot, who's alive that could do that?

Mr. Rate : Seems I heard about a shot like that being made not too long ago, said the guy's name was Bob Lee Swagger. Never met the man, so I wouldn't know.

Bob Lee Swagger : Ya, they said that alright.

Mr. Rate : They also said that artificial sweeteners were safe, WMDs were in Iraq and Anna Nicole married for love.

Mr. Rate : That's how a conspiracy works. Them boys on the Grassy Knoll they were dead within three hours, buried in the damned desert, unmarked graves out past Terlingua.

Nick Memphis : You know this for a fact?

Mr. Rate : Still got the shovel...

Bob Lee Swagger : Sake of argument, somebody other than him?

Mr. Rate : There was a guy in Russia. They locked his *** up. Another one in France. I know he's dead. There was one guy, but he don't shoot no more. A brutal son of a *****. Most boys shoot to kill. He'd shoot to wound, wait till his friends come to help, kill them too. Turned one target into four. Men, women, children. Killed them by the hundreds. The other side wanted him. Bad. Finally narrowed his hide down to an abandoned six-story building. They quit the subtle tactics. They called in an artillery strike. Leveled a square block. Brought the building down on his ***. Some say he crawled out of there. Some say he died. Never heard from him no more.

Bob Lee Swagger : [recalling the man in the wheelchair, Michael Sandor] **** me.

Nick Memphis : What?

Bob Lee Swagger : I met the son of a *****!

Mr. Rate : The world is not always as it seems, is it son?

Bob Lee Swagger : No Sir.

Mr. Rate : You keep that in mind.

Nick Memphis : [sips coffee, chokes, coughs]

Mr. Rate : [smiling] Good coffee?

Nick Memphis : Yeah.
