Have any of you put up a fence or other structure using steel for the posts? I'm wondering how I'm going to prop up the posts while positioning them, since I can't nail 2x4s into the steel posts. Maybe use shock cords hooked to nails on the braces?

I have only done a few steel posts over the years. When we did, the concrete was already in the hole (most of it , probably 90%). It was a pain, but forced the pipe down into the concrete by wiggling, pounding, and any means to pull it down. They were pretty stable at that point, but would use 4 boards around it angled at the base. Just used duct tape wrapped around the boards and pipe. They were used for gates, so had to be relatively straight and plumb.

I was raised Baptist, we are now members of a United Methodist church, the Methodists are about to split into multiple, (at least two) different denominations. This has come about due to the majority conservatives wanting to maintain the status quo. That states that all are welcome in our church, but LGBTQ cannot be ordained or married in the church. The minority progressives want it all. We have many gay members that are perfectly satisfied with current policies, but outside forces feel the need to impose their will.

Similar except raised Methodist, then the first split to the United Methodist.
I've back slid quite a bit as I got tired of the church politics and the national decisions.
After several years as a trustee I told them over a dozen years ago no more for me.
I usually go a couple of times a year now, depending on how the little church here goes may become even less.

As far as changing names for political correctness, how can a name that was used with no prejudice for decades,
including the time frame when it could have been misconstrued be so upsetting to people that have never been effected.

things move slowly in most churches, particularly old ones.
I remember talking about the term overseer thirty years ago sitting on church committees.
Since Philadelphia Quakers, spread out down through Maryland and Virginia,
were often the conductors in the Underground Railroad, bringing freed slaves North,
special long term relationship with folks of color.

Any of you have any name changing in your churches? (not meant to be discussion of any religion, just the name changing part)

At Meeting for Worship for Business this coming Sunday, February 9th, those in attendance will be asked to consider changing the name of the Overseers Committee. The Ad Hoc Committee formed at the last Meeting for Worship for Business to consider alternate names met and reached a decision as outlined below:
Report of the Ad Hoc Committee
Despite its unique history and use within the Society of Friends, the word “overseers” has general connotations of power and authority, and for some people, specific connotations of the brutal authority wielded over enslaved people in America’s past. To prevent pain and misunderstanding and to convey a welcoming, inclusive attitude, Philadelphia Yearly Meeting and most of its monthly meetings have discontinued use of the term Overseers.

I personally was on Overseers Committee for many years, pretty much a Board of Directors in an organization without any pecking order.
I don't believe Overseer is a term used in normal industry today, but I bet there are examples out there, likely in foreign countries.

off to buy some Entemann's chocolate donuts for the nurses

Our congregation uses biblical term and examples for all we do. If you don’t, it’s just mans creations and opinions without biblical authority. Without biblical authority, anything you do in the name of God is meaningless and a waste of time. 1 corinthians 15 teaches that very lesson.

The New Testament uses 3 primary words for the leaders of a congregation of the church (assembly) that God established thru his word via his son Christ.
Elder (presbuteros) - also where we get the term presbyter.
Overseer (episcopeo)
Shepherd (poimaino) - also where we get word Pastor (poimen) which is only used once as a noun, and never applied to a Minister.

Hebrews 13:17 calls them overseers because they have the responsibility of watching over your soul.

Any of these terms are correct biblical term for the men that lead a congregation per the qualifications spelled out in Titus 1. They are used synonymously throughout scripture.

Not accepting the word overseer is committing a far greater sin than what is intended by it’s omission, because you are taking away from God’s word which we are warned not to do in Deuteronomy 12:32.

Good morning to all ! Low of 24, light snow coming down right now. They are guessing maybe 1-2 inches. Wind was ripping here last night, gusts 50-60.

I am not sure if the wind was a contributing factor of my terrible nights sleep. I kept waking up about every hour, very uncomfortable, tossed and turned all night. The night before was also not a good night for sleep, but not as bad..... ??? Now I am just really dragging....

Not sure what the agenda will be for today.... hopefully a nap will be included.

Having a hard time thinking what to type..... everyone have a great!

RNG ... can you drive steel fence posts, one on each side of your solar support post, then plumb solar support and secure with wire?

Pull out fence posts with tractor FEL ... rinse ... repeat.

Good morning. I thought I would let you all know that winter is still here. Eric asked for a snow picture a few days ago. This is looking out the gate, we have about 2 feet on the ground. The drift behind the fence is over 5 feet. The low this morning was -20 below with a 10 mph breeze. It's going to be sunny with a high in the low 20's today.

I have been staying busy doing a few things around here. I put a 2 and half inch pipe on the cutting edge of the snow blower. It has made quite a difference in blowing the driveway. Also put a thermostat bypass heater hose on the Polaris ranger. I should have done that when I put the heater in it.

I have kept up with everyone. Everyone with building projects, I hope everything goes well and doesn't end up in Seattle. I hope that everyone feeling under the weather gets better and stays that way.

Hope everyone has a nice day.
CWB.

Ron, I agree about concern over PC. There are some very strident voices in this discussion.
Buckeye, the long timers in our Meeting are informally called Elders. We have no clergy so it's a little different.
I think the Hebrew term was a good interpretation.
So I've been a Trustee and since I've been attending since age 5, am definitely an Elder. Our biggest challenge is getting folks
to volunteer for these positions.

Have been on so many boards and committees over my life, clear there are the normal volunteers and then there will always be the politics and folks
pushing their personal agendas. School boards were the worst, discussions weren't always pleasant. The parents who knew the least made the most noise.
My older brother was head of township supervisors, and
they should have paid him for the grief that came with that job.

I know a few of us were not comfortable with the label Elite on this forum. But you have to pick your battles and that seems like one not worth the air...

An overcast 28ºF for today’s low; 36ºF presently and the cloud deck appears to be breaking up somewhat; and I anticipate a mostly cloudy afternoon with high temperature in the mid40ºF’s. I used our air fryer last night to prep the eggplant rounds for eggplant parmesan last night. The final product came out great; now I need to determine is the calorie count. sometime today. I plan to spend today/tomorrow prepping for the crazy weather midweek into the weekend. WIfey’s two Dr. and OT appointments this week coincide with the worst of the predicted freezing rain and sleet.

Something must have been in the air last night and I can not blame the wind nor wildlife. According to FitBit I slept 4 hours 40 minutes, and woke up 16 times with sleep stages all over the chart. Today started too early:(.

Wifey refers to this group as “The Brethren”.

Too much PC in the world today especially by the entitled. What ever happened to common sense and decency and mutual respect?

A nap is definitely a high probability today.

I hope those who slept poorly last evening gets some nap time today and still pull off a project or two.

My + thoughts, wishes, and prayers.

Our low last night was 60 degrees, 61 when I got up this morning and during the night the rain gauge got .65" of rain in it. That takes care of the GOOD news; now the bad. The temperature has been falling since just after 6 a.m.; now down to 42 and on it's way to 33 tonight; possible sleet or at least 70% chance of some kind of precipitation. But we don't have to get out, so it can't be too bad for us.
