Beautiful country, been in the Wien area and unfortunately didn't drive trough Østerreich but via Germany and czech republic so I didn't see so much of the country side.

Here in Norway John Deere has dominated sales for years, Fendt is a big player and of course MF and NH, Valtra is also big as the Scandinavian tractor. There are a few Steyr here to.

You might know then. I kind of heard that in GERMNAY JD, is the poor farmers tractor. Like bargain basement.

JD is not a cheap tractor, but Fendt is more expensive and a German brand so I suppose it feels a little bit better for the Germans to own one. Same with Deutz. JD has a lot of production and research and development in Germany so it is quite German :)

Oura and other JD Ag tractors are made in Manheim. My Grandfather had a truckding company and shipped tractors out of Manheim,

They got their foot in the german market when they aquired the Lanz facility in Mannheim. I think it was in the late 70's or early 80's. A lots of older small brands diminished in that time. Güldner, Kramer, Hatz, Eicher. Just to name a few.

Germany had a different tractor tradition Vs England, here in Norway in the fifties and early sixties there was several German brands but mostly low hp and few cylinders. Does anybody know if there was a reason for this? Here I live there are a few M.A.N 4WD tractors from the fifties but the price was very high. Quite a few Porsche was sold to but mostly low hp versions.

Farming was small scale. People were happy not to follow an ox anymore. A few HP produced by possibly just one cylinder was enough. Hanomag was another brand. Those were said were too good and they went out of business.

In the background of the Porsche above seems to be a Schlüter from the paint pattern. They are out of business too.

Here in the mountains it was a lot of single axle tractors, Aebi, bucher, Motostandard, agria and many more, suppose it was very common in your contry to.
